Let me explain something about viruses, specifically the influenza viruses. H1N1 is an Influenza A virus. They, along with Influenza B have been around for decades and epidemiologists have a pretty good handle on them.
As one of the posters brought CDC into this, here is a link to look at:
https://www.cdc.gov/flu/pandemic-res...-pandemic.html
According to the link, some 60.8 million cases were reported in the US with around 13K deaths, most of whom were under 65. Somewhere around 200K people died worldwide from the virus.
This differs from the usual influenza viruses in that the 70-90% of deaths are reported in people over 65.
Biden was incredibly lucky that H1N1 was notwhere near as deadly as Covid. Had it been half as deadly as Covid, we would have lost over a million Americans on his watch. This is why I have no confidence in Biden as a leader in a pandemic.
As I said, we got no real direction from the CDC, FDA, VA or anyone else. We were told to handle it the way we handled other influenza outbreaks. There were no lockdowns, no one was told to wear a mask, no one was told to social distance.
As I said, Biden was very lucky in his handling of H1N1.
Over half a million dead worldwide.
As to Biden's handling of H1N1, there were over 60million confirmed cases in this country. Approximately 1/4 of the population was ill at one time or another.
What is the percentage of people infected by Covid?
I do not think, for one second, that Biden/Obama had any more idea how to handle H1N1 than Trump did with Covid. Neither response was adequate.
As to wearing of masks, shields, gowns, respirators, etc., we didn't wear them. We didn't use them on the sick residents.
Hilarious how you pretend like this was something that was solely in the hands of the vice president at the time or something. Not to mention that people criticized Biden during that time for basically taking the swine flu too seriously.
Stop pretending like your opinions on this matter are anything more than partisan drivel hiding behind your oh so precious "professional opinion". You put politics before science and as someone that constantly presents themselves as a healthcare professional, that's pretty despicable. The fact that you get so damn butthurt when anyone questions these hollow opinions makes it all the more ridiculous.

Biden wasnt "lucky" it wasnt as deadly as covid, we knew it wasnt and so our response wasn't so. Your logic is backwards.

Your post isnt a joke because of what the CDC told you to do. It's a joke because you're taking an epidemic of exponentially smaller proportion and acting as if biden would have reacted just the same regardless if it were H1N1 or covid 19. You know that's bull **** so why are you even saying it?

It’s weird to think that because Biden didn’t advocate masks and safety equipment for H1N1 he wouldn’t for Covid. It’s even weirder to think Biden wouldn’t advocate for those things with Covid when he literally had advocated for those things. And it’s weirdest to think he’d do no better at handling it than the guy who not only didn’t advocate it, but actively campaigned against it.
I wil try to explain once again what the CDC said in 2009 to us in healthcare.
They did not tell us to do anything differently against H1N1 than we had done against the seasonal influenza outbreaks in previous years. We were not instructed to wear gowns, masks, shields, etc when treating these patients.
You are making it appear that I thought Trump did a good job of handling Covid -- he did not. The American people saw that and fired him. I do not think Biden would have done a better job, as he and his people were actively trying to get people to not take vaccines -- Kamala Harris said "I don't trust a vaccine that Trump recommends".
I have no confidence in Biden's ability to handle Covid any better than Trump did. You may disagree with this, of course.
Smaller proportion? Over 60 million people were infected with H1N1, as opposed 31 million cases of Covid so far. You say that Trump did a poor job, yet you think Biden did a good job of handling H1N1?
I guess someone that allows twice as many people to be infected does a great job.
I am saying it because I feel it is true. Biden would not have done any better against Covid than Trump did, and Trump did a terrible job.
