I have no clue where you're getting that from. Tbh, part of the reason I got in this convo is because he was asking reasonable questions and making reasonable point about people having diff opinions. You are correct that it can be unreasonable, but in many instances, when someone dances around a pointed question, it's because everyone knows the answer but they don't want to say it outright. This happens a lot in this forum.

You should never say what someone else knows based even on facts in evidence. My mother KNOWS that God created the earth in 6 days. It's possible Fingerbang believed Trump got oxygen, but it's entirely possble he didn't know he got oxygen. Hell after the doctor said he got oxygen I still don't KNOW he got oxygen, because maybe Trump is a nitrogen breathing alien and his hair is a complicated oxygen filter to keep him from inhaling oxygen.

But that conversation wasn't about china lying, it was about what this story was being used for, and how the data doesn't follow the story line. The govt said china lied and everyone believed it on the basis that they are china and they always lie, not on any actual evidence.

Ok, but when one person says why do you deserve special treatment, and the other responds it's not special treatment and then lists out why, that's not him avoiding the question, that's him not answering within the purposefully limited framework posed by the question.

He may not believe it. Maybe he's being paid, or maybe he has family held in camps so he can't say what he knows to be true.

I do not deny the massive increase in deaths of despair and economic impact. I deny that these massive increases are even approaching the number of deaths or impact from coronavirus.

This is a common conservative argument that the ancillary effects of covid response are worse than the covid response, therefore we shouldn't enact any covid responses.

I agree, that there eventually comes a point where the effects are worse than covid, but I don't believe we are anywhere near that point currently. For instance, in order for suicides to approach covid deaths, we'd have to see suicides increase by near 600%.

Or he could say everyone deserves special treatment.

My argument was semantic, and also respected that valade has a habit of trying to debate like the truth is under his control.

No, I worded it like that because I never argued that china isnt lying, I argued that there is nothing in their data to suggest so and that their data gave us all the pertinent information we needed to run our covid response.

You know your argument about what people know is in trouble if you're invoking the "we can't know anything with 100% certainty" argument.

Yes, Fingerbang absolutely knew Trump had received oxygen, that is precisely why he danced around answering the direct question "do you believe Trump received oxygen, yes or no?"

Nice. I hope it helps her be much more comfortable when going out in public.

What I meant to imply was that just because someone has a compromised immune system and is claustrophobic doesn't mean that they can't hang with wearing a mask when appropriate. The former is basically irrelevant, while the latter is fully dependent on how severe the claustrophobia is. I hated to and basically refused to wear a mask at a particularly dirty and dusty job I had for about a month but have zero issues with wearing one when I'm not the only person being affected by my mask wearing (or lack thereof).

First, yes you did argue China's numbers were not incorrect. And if you're so good at looking at data and we are all so bad at it, how come we all looked at the data and came to the right conclusion and you looked at the data and came to the wrong one?

Honestly, I knew you were conceited, but I never knew you were "the reason I got the question wrong is because of how much better at this I am than you" conceited.
