Enough snarky remarks though. We will not flatten the curve substantially without either closing the economy down, as we did in March of 2020 or we have a serviceable vaccine. That will be the only thing that allows us to get back to any sort of normalcy in our country.
Closing the country down is unacceptable in the long run. The only thing that happens is the government goes broke and people are limited as to the choices they have for basic products. A serviceable vaccine will allow us to get back to pre-Covid normals, or at least get close.
As to the styles of vaccines, and there are many, I don't have the expertise to make any comments on this. I recommend reading the news that comes from Lancet, Journal of American Medical Association (JAMA) or the major universities -- NYU, Johns Hopkins, and the major medical centers -- Mayo etal.
Now for some general suggestions that you have heard elsewhere, but I will repeat them to be sure they are understood.
1. Wear a mask when you are in public. If you are walking your dog or exercising in a park with no one else around you, you should be OK. If you are in a store or taking public transportation, wear one.
2. Wash your hands. Hand sanitizers with at least 60% alcohol are very effective in killing Covid. Washing with soap and water is also effective.
3. Stay out of large crowds.
