I agree, and I'd be perfectly fine with them vaccinating everyone, everywhere, no matter how they enter or if they were already here. I'm also not naive enough to think that Republicans wouldn't rush to the first microphone they could find to complain about Biden vaccinating illegals when there are homeless vets they don't otherwise give a **** about it that aren't being vaccinated.

The Mu strain from Columbia has been in Florida since at least the end of July. Again, it's not being driven by crossings at the southern border.

No one has "sanctimoniously looked down on the unvax'd" or "turned a blind eye" to the immigrants. What is that, straw man number three in this one post? You're nothing if not efficient.

The uber nurse said Biden "bungled" the COVID response, and this was the only thing he could point to as his reasoning why. If you can't demonstrate that immigrants at the southern border are driving outbreaks - and you can't because there's no evidence that they are - then it's hard to see how this could be an example of him "bungling" anything. Especially after issuing a vaccine mandate that is going to have significantly more effect on reducing community spread and the strain on health care systems than vaccinating immigrants will.

So no, I'm not turning a blind eye. I'm simply asking for evidence. The fact that three of you reacted this way to that is more telling than you want it to be.

The reality is it's far easier to check the vaccination status of people coming off a plane a few hundred at a time than it is to check vax status for thousands of people crossing over hundreds of miles every day.
We don't have the capcity to do it.

They need to be vax'd these are our borders, we get to set the conditions for entry. Explain to me how it makes ANY ****ING sense that we require people coming through an airport to show proof of vax, but not other routes of entry? How does that make any medical sense? If immigrants aren't driving the spread why harras people flying in?

And just because the Mu variant is here doesn't mean it can't spread from other points. At the start of the pandemic, we had two different versions of the original virus, one that came from Asia on the West coast, and one that came from Europe.
A virus can have more than one point of entry.

The people coming through the airport are staying here, going out into the community, interacting with servers in restaurants and clerks in shops, etc; immigrants coming through the southern border are still being expelled under Title 42. Only one of those is going to contribute to community spread, because only one of them is going to be out in the community. I don't necessarily agree with expelling them, but it is happening.

We can shoot every immigrant on sight, but we're still getting cargo ships and cruise ships and letting flights full of tourists in. We should monitor the spread of these variants, but there is no chance this country shuts down again to stop the spread of a variant unless the death rate goes way up... and even then, you know people would fight it.

If there's a variant out there, it's coming. Mu is in Finland and the UK and Canada and Hawaii and Alaska. And so is Alpha, and Beta, and Gamma, and Lambda. It doesn't have to come across the southern border when we're happy to welcome it in everywhere else.

The R.1 variant from Japan showed up in a nursing home in Kentucky earlier this week. I'm guessing someone didn't walk from Ecuador through Japan and then to Kentucky.

What I'm pointing to isn't a critique of President Biden, it's a critique of the media which we saw again and again throughout the pandemic, which was if you were at a rally they agreed with they were fine, and there was no criticism, if you were at one they disagreed with or just an event, or being at the beach they would attack you. Those two tweets were sent 12 hours apart.

Oh, NOW he looks ridiculous because he was praised for his bravery and how funny he was at the time, for shaming people for being out doors and socially distanced.

What I said there was SARCASM, which tracks based on the other things I said. It did happen that the media and politicians attacked any public gathering they didn't approve of as "super spreader events" while defending the necessity of any they agreed with.

Some of the immigrants coming through the southern border are getting deported, were seeing like 10k a day. Lots of them are being released into the interior with dates to show up in court. Are those ones not interacting with the community? And frankly, we should be vaccinating them regardless of whether we deport them or not. And not just for Covid, give them ****ing everything, it's in everyone's best interest.
Also, if I remember correctly title 42 was a racist xenophobic unconstitutional measure by the Trump admin, and yet, the Biden admin is still using it, but Republicans aren't attacking them for it. It's almost like they aren't criticizing him for doing something they like.

Once again, just because a variant IS HERE ALREADY doesn't mean it's EVERYWHERE.
