Yet you, a radiologist, have made constant appeals to your own "authority" when discussing COVID-19. :laugh2:
I think most everyone understands this, I think people realize that at certain times with this virus we have been incorrect. I dont think thats a good reason to abandon science or scientific approach.
The science should be dictating policy. Even with the understanding that sometimes our science is inaccurate.
If science dictated our approach we would have never had to have phase 0 or phase 1 shut downs.

Oh, I don't think we would have avoided some shutdowns...they just would have been part of the way to actually get things under control, shorter, and not completely killing nearly as many jobs or businesses.
Instead here we are, months later, still herding cats
But I also believe people are entitled to REAL Science, not the JUNK science we are seeing today. The problem the United States had was they paid too much attention to Neal Ferguson's first model that said if the US did nothing, 2.2 million people would die. Anyone with half a brain cell knew that was so bogus and far-fetched it wasn't feasible. That is why people are anti-mask; the science is so far off and there are so many things that are bogus that it is not even funny. I am not trying to say 200k is not saddening, but we lose WAY more than that every year for other things. We don't wear masks; we don't social distance. So why now?
It's the whole "doomsayers" argument that they get away with time after time; "Oh see, our safety measures saved all these lives."
The biggest question that needs to be asked is this: If no one mentioned Covid-19 or Coronavirus, would you think what was happening in the US today was anything more than a really bad flu season?
so are people supposed to listen to Fauci or not?
the same Fauci that said Trump did listen to him.
the same Fauci that said no reason not to vote in person in November.
I'm all for listening to science, but science doesn't DO anything. Scientists are people and those people have theories and data about their specialties but there are no specialists in this whole situation. If you have 5 experts who have different ways to go forward someone has to choose which one to go with and there is no certainty that person will be "right".
When Sweden decided to not shut down they, like NY made the mistake of exposing older people to the virus and paid a hard price for that oversight, but then they chose to protect the older people and left everything else as is. They had a spike then it dropped and now they are essentially completely past the issue. They made those decisions listening to scientists too.
The cost of this pandemic will not be truly known for 20-40 years most likely yet people keep coming to conclusions now.
I've never claimed that they are 100% flawless and if you are only going to listen to people who never make a mistake, then you will listen to not one person to have ever walked the earth.
But the doctors know far more as a baseline and are on the front lines facing the pandemic, so their knowledge base is rapidly expanding every single day. They also don't have time o be focusing on a lot of the political ****. They're too busy treating people for COVID and treating people who don't have COVID during COVID.
Specifically Fauci, yes he has made some statements that appear to be wrong in hindsight, but again so has EVERYONE. However, what he has done that most people ESPECIALLY Trump haven't done, is admit when he was wrong and issue a corrective statement. So to go find things in January or February that he said that were wrong and try to attack him for it in September when in reality he corrected the record very likely in March or April is ridiculous. Especially when the attempt is purely political to defend someone like Trump who is making the same statements (*publicly, since we know what he truly thinks after the Woodward tapes) then as he is now is hypocritical and idiotic.
When it's dead obvious you have an agenda that includes parroting Donald Trump and pretending COVID-19 should be nothing more than a minor inconvenience, yes I dismiss the mindless nonsense you're attempting to present as an insider's view.
I've never claimed to be an authority on the matter (unlike you and your phony appeals to your own bogus authority). Another big swing and a miss. Better luck next time, Jacko.
Idiot Rand Paul gets out in his place by Fauci.

Well first off, the phrasing of that tweet is annoying. This whole “oh he owned him” is why there’s so much resistance.
But yeah, watching people with zero study of infectious disease debate someone who has dedicated their life to it is the epitome of dangerous politicking.
