COVID-19 Response: An issue that shouldn't be at all political....yet here we are

One more thing about H1N1. It was not a new virus. It was one of a group that had been around for decades. The tests for it had been in use for a very long time. Vaccines for it, or at least for viruses in it's group, had been developed years before.
Covid 19 was a "novel" virus. It is part of a group of viruses that were only known in the animal population until 2019. There were no tests available for it until March 2020, and those were not as accurate as one would have wished. There were no vaccines even considered for the group of viruses until it arrived.
Again, Trump did a horrible job of handling the virus and got fired for his response. Biden would not have done any better.

CDC distributed updated recommendations for the use of influenza antiviral medicines to provide guidance for clinicians in prescribing antiviral medicines for treatment and prevention (chemoprophylaxis) of 2009 H1N1 influenza.

Biden's response did not keep 60Million Americans from being infected, nor did it give healthcare professionals guidance to handle the pandemic.

We were not instructed to wear masks, gowns and shields during H1N1. We were during Covid. During H1N1, clinicians treated it the way they had treated influenza viruses for decades. Antivirals, hydration, analgesics and antipyretics were used, as they had been for years. Nothing new.

I just laid out the facts. Nothing more, nothing less.

Yes you did. I laid out the facts on the provider level. We were given no specific directions as to how to handle H1N1. It was a nasty Influenza A strain. Our clinicians did nothing different than they had cone for other strains of similar viruses. Antivirals had been around for years and were marginally effective in treating it.
Again, Covid was a virus we had never seen before in humans. No treatments that were in use prior were effective in treating it. A brand new treatment had to be developed. A brand new vaccine had to be developed.
Again, I will reiterate that Trump's response to Covid was unacceptable.

How many people did h1n1 kill? How many statewide lockdowns did it cause? If those numbers are comparable to covid then your point may have merit. If not, then let it go.
