it's an expression, not to be taken literally.....not like among friends having a beer at the end of a work week was a logical time to get into a discussion like that
So? I had an opportunity to transfer to a position I like more. The only down side I saw to doing so was that I have less opportunity for advancement. I’m a producer now and not a manager. They’re aren’t many jobs for me to take in this area that would be a move up. Since I'm OK with amount they pay me I did it. When they tell me to go back to the office I will.
What do you do?

I don't know about Ewing, but I will fully admit that personally the results of the pandemic have been beneficial to me. BUT and maybe this is where we cross a lack of ability to empathize with people, I would trade that for the people who died unnecessarily from COVID to be returned to their families and an administration who wasn't so committed to acting like COVID was a hoax would have been in charge.
This pandemic and events that have happened as a result have changed all of us in at least some ways, if not significant ways. Just looking at employment only, we have people moving out of cities because they held jobs their company have deemed could be performed remotely ongoing- sometimes significantly increasing their disposable income due to decreased expenses. Others have lost jobs and returned to lower paying jobs or not finding a job at all.
Younger workers will make decisions that are different than older workers, since they're far more likely to be thinking of future promotions, while older workers may be rethinking their priorities or even their retirement plans. I can't speak for ewing, but I can say my thoughts on retirement, or even returning to the position I'm currently furloughed from full time, have changed.
I agree with your point about colleges. It’s 100% true.
The rest meh. Biden inherited a terrible mess. It hasn’t been 100 days yet. So he still has time.I don’t know how anyone can blame Biden for the current state of the pandemic.
And I disagree with your take on lazy teachers. Most of them are finding it harder and more stressful to be teaching remotely. Do you even know any teachers?
I am in favor of telecommuting for jobs that allow it. It saves on travel, it will help decrease the pollution that autos cause. As long as the job can be done properly from a remote location, I heartily approve.
Some meetings will have to be face to face, so an occasional trip to the office will be in order.
Some jobs do not lend themselves to telecommuting, however.
