Nicky worth noting. Obama took over in the middle of a great recession after Bush crashed the economy
- he ended with 75 straight months of job growth. Trash him all you want, but certain things are cemented in history.
Case in point: 281,000 Americans filed for unemployment last week, a 33% jump over the prior week and the biggest % increase since 1992.
Next week, 2.25 MILLION are predicted to file for unemployment— 8 times the number last week and the highest number EVER.
Yep. Rich people have the luxury to buy stocks. I have 300k in my 401k and hope to retire in 16 years. I am not allocating my funds into the C fund or aggressive stock fund at this time cause I don't want to lose anything, because I may get sick as I am diabetic and may have to stop working anyway. Or who knows my job might be eliminated. We don't know the uncertainty and consequences of this. Who knows. I moved it to bonds G fund. Once the cost is clear we can go back to aggressive investing. Sure if your wealthy you can play the long game and profit from the situation. Yet, thus is like nothing anyone has dealt with in our life time. People just rolling conservative talking points make me laugh as if this was some market correction or short term crisis over the oil fields in the middle East or even a war somewhere need to reevaluate.
Not surprised at all with what's going on. Ton of people probably don't have any income right now staying home.
Luckily, my wife is able to work from home and can work plenty of OT most weeks as well.
I do in-home AV installs, so we are totally shut down right now. We still get paid for the next 2 weeks, then I'll use my PTO t cover additional time off. Probably just use it 20-30 hrs a week at a time to stretch it out further, but I'm guessing we'll likely be off for at least the next couple months. Thankfully it resets in every July, and since last July I've only used 4 days total so I still have pretty much all of it saved.
Question
22,000 cares in the US
278 deaths
1.26 death rate
Not the 8-9% like in Italy.
And In the same time frame how many people died from the regular flu?
48% of the US cases are in NY. That's nuts.
This is scary man
So do we what you can to stay safe. Stay home as much as you can. Wash your hands use sanitizer and keep your distance from others. When this is done make sure to vote for elected officials who are sober, deliberative, and get the best scientific advice possible. Also vote for a President who doesn't think in only quarertly reports to determine what is best for the American people and for Senators and Congresssman commuted to ensuring all Americans have access to quality health care. After all my insurance and health doesn't mean crap if the people I m around don't got to a doctor.
