I think I understand what is going to happen next. Trump riled up his base to demand reopening of States. Now States like Georgia will reopen and other in short order. If the cases surge in those States he will blame the governors and say I didn't say they open.

states where dems are governors realize that the federal government will not be bailing them out of the huge budget deficits because of the closing down of the economy... even they realize they have to open the states up sooner then later...

With the exception of Texas the blue States are the most wealthy. If you don’t assist them that will have a negative ripple effect on the other states. Just for example how many people from the tri state area go to Florida for vacation

I am not a Democrat. I dislike welfare. However, i tell you this, I am glad a safety net exists in case we need it one day. Right now anyone of us may need it. The stimulus checks you probably got and your family got is welfare. Plus, as you described your parents story I am pretty sure some sort of welfare was received by them. Maybe not cash assistance. Yet, food stamps, section 8, NYCHA, free school meals, financial aid in school, your family got something, you got something, don’t lie.
