Nothing could have stopped it. However he did give it a month head start. On Feb 28th, Trump told a crowd of people that the early warning about the #COVID19 outbreak was a "hoax". US intelligence warned Trump in Jan as he dismissed coronavirus threat. Trump disbanded the pandemic response team, ignored early warning signs & refused to believe the science.

Feb. 2: “We pretty much shut it down coming in from China. It’s going to be fine.”
Feb. 24: “The Coronavirus is very much under control in the USA… Stock Market starting to look very good to me!”
Feb. 25: “I think that’s a problem that’s going to go away. They have studied it. They know very much. In fact, we’re very close to a vaccine.”
Feb. 27: “One day it’s like a miracle, it will disappear.”

There is more, plenty more . But I think you get the gist.

Again you are bringing out words trump has said . Yes he has said the wrong things but what actions could he have done to prevent this ? He started the travel bans 2 months ago

He denied it! That cost us valuable time and lives! Trump disbanded the pandemic response team, ignored early warning signs & refused to believe the science.

You don't believe a month head start would have made a significant difference?

Isn't it kinfa likely that Trump was getting his info and what to about it by "experts" and maybe just maybe we didn't get the full story because he was trying to slow down the panic and prevent people from buying 15yrs of toilet paper for a respiratory illness. Asking for a friend?

Like your friend, I am thinking this might be the case. Why cause panic when there are so many unknowns at that time.

Like your friend, I am thinking this might be the case. Why cause panic when there are so many unknowns at that time.

He has a cabinet of people who don't believe the government is useful. He has a cabinet of people who deny scientific evidence as evidenced by people affiliated with the oil and coal industry in charge of the EPA. He dispanded the council of experts for pandemic responses, and put Pence in charge of responding to the virus a man who as Governor of his state closed clinics and prevented needle programs during a waive of HIV in his state. So now I am not giving him the benefit of the doubt. The man used fear, panic, and prejudice to his advantage for his benefit why would he suddenly be sober and responsible now ?

Source? I won't doubt that China is less than forthcoming with the truth, as is Russia. The help they denied was from the US CDC, not the WHO. They were also late in reporting the genetic sequencing to WHO as I stated previously.
