We absolutely should not get rid of the force itself, it seems they're just going to transition to another style of police using more community policing and those who use excessive force will actually be held accountable. The issue will be a pushback from the companies who make those tanks, drones, guns... They will push back and try to instill fear.

We have a militarized police force and private prisons. We all need to consider that for a moment and what it means.

It needs to change. The far right will scream that there will be more crime. The far left will cry kumbaya.

The middle needs to stay together and see that we can have significant reform and still be safe.

Not to mention a recidivism rate that is higher among minorities to begin with. Privatizing public safety is not the best idea much like making prisons more private wasn't the best way for states to handle criminal reform. The latter disproportionately targets black, latinos, etc.

I'm not for defunding police either. That said, its an easy placebo instead of real change. Doing the hard work and trying to reform police forces as a whole is something politicians and alike don't want to take on.

they were right to. U could tell it was a timed publicity stunt in order to try and capitalize on the situation. It just took more eyes off this that usually wouldn't be on this situation. As soon as people started to exploit this day after day for personnel and financial gain alot of people that were backing this movement that usually wouldn't have turned away because the message has gotten so mixed up.

Judgment money doesn't account for lawyer percentages. That 230 million dollars was settled with the victims.

No the total was 230 million dollars. I don't know what each individual lawyer charges for their representation in those lawsuits. If its 10%, then they made 23 million of that 230 million dollars.
