It speaks to people's lack of understanding of the virus. They're completely disregarding the fact that the virus can be spread a-symptomatically. You have mayors, governors and even the president who doesn't seem to understand that either.
The narrative that this only really effects the elderly and those with underlying conditions has become prevalent as well. That's the power of misinformation and ignorance.
I think it just speaks more to the people being fed up w this whole lockdown. Something opens up, they wanna go to gtfo the house.
I was ecstatic to get back to work 3 weeks ago for this exact reason. I also wear a mask, throwaway gloves and shoe covers and sanitize everything in between houses though.
Sure but people need to understand that just because the lockdown is over in some states doesn't mean the virus is still not a threat or for that matter is anywhere near gone. Look, we all have things we want to do but either the businesses need to smarten up or the customers do. I know that's easier said than done for all these businesses who have made little to no money in recent months but they're prolonging this if they think everything can return to normal right away.
Take some kind of action. That picture looks like its the summer of 2019 where the virus didn't even exist yet.
Every year my cousin, a couple of friends, and I make the trek from Brooklyn to Montauk for their opening day of porgy and fluke fishing. Usually its May 1st but with the state shutdown orders, i think this year its June 1st. The boat is always packed (if the weather cooperates) and barely any elbow room with 200+ people. I already know that the boat will be packed with people not wearing masks on opening day (this year) even with the emphasis on social distancing.
That **** shouldn't happen and you wont find me anywhere near there. I'm only 33 and in relatively good health but its not about me.
It may not be the most prudent thing to do but can you blame people for doing what they did ? I mean more than 2 months cooped Up inside their homes . If I still drank alcohol I would go to a bar too now . Heck as soon as the beaches around here open , I am going . Like it or not things have to start getting back to normal again , even if it is a new type of normal . Eventually all fears are faced at one time or another
I get that but its not just about them. Its about who you potentially spread it to. The a-symptomatic part is different too. Most viruses have symptoms and you know you are carrying something. This virus has a significant % of carriers who don't know they have it.
That's why testing was so important but this schmuck head president was too busy worrying about press conference ratings. Obviously its important to him now when its so close to home in the white house but apparently still not important for American people.
This fear that I am seeing of this virus would make one think you guys are talking about the Ebola virus or if hiv suddenly became much more easily transmissible .
The thing about this virus is it can kill family member or a friend if not you. Or make them suffer. I know you thought you was making a good point right. I don't want to bring something home that can kill or cause them to suffer. I lost an uncle, and two of my nephews were terribly sick. Should it reach your neck of the woods you would see it differently.
