Not being asked to keep your hands on the steering wheel if you get pulled over, is white privilege. It doesn't mean you asked for it and it doesn't make you a bad person for it but we all need to really see it and understand what it would be like to never, never be given the benefit of the doubt and to always be held to a different standard

That is not the fault of the cops. It's what they've been taught because this is systemic.
We are one of the few nations that has privatized penal institutions and have senators who are supported by those owners, pushing laws that will target certain groups.

It's systemic.
A lack of funding for inner city schools to create a divide.

It's systemic.

If you can't see that or don't want to believe that, you are part of the problem. That doesn't make you a bad person but it makes you complicit with. system set up to exploit certain groups

It happens in every single country in this World. It is not just happening to the black community in the US. That is just the tip of the iceberg.

I fully understand the anger when they express it the way they do. We are not in pre 1865 Days anymore. The problem I see is there are not enough of generations removed from those years to quell the issue. And it is just constantly talked about to no end. And when Government just gives you freebies then it never helps you or future people as it just never stops. People never improve their lifestyle, never get educated, ect. The blame of the leaders prior to 1865 will never end. It is was their fault and now we as a community are screwed. Why is that?

I do not ever see the US getting better with this for at least 200-300 more years. At some point things have to change. There are all kinds of racism in this country. It is terrible but the only way it turns is when one race has majority within the Country. Since the 1600s the White have been the majority in the US. That is slowly starting to change. I feel in about 200-300 years from now the White people will be the ones crying racism in the US.

The the entire WORLD goes through this. I just don’t ever see people all holding hands together in some utopian world. Human beings just can’t get along. It is sad.

Power is the main culprit of racism.

My only issue of all of this is not the violence but how the media makes it political.

It is THEIR FAULT!

THAT is always the narrative. THEIR being the right. THE ENTIRE RIGHT. There are a lot of black people who have conservative beliefs. And it is sad put those people get put down because they are on the right. Biden saying they are not black if they vote for Trump is a very ignorant statement. I hate The blanket statements that people make when they throw people in the same pot.

Just because I support some of Trump’s beliefs doesn’t mean I’m a hater or FULLY AGREE with all he says....total bullspit!

Last week you acted so offended that Biden would make a comment about how blacks should vote. You acted offended. Well since Biden made that comment you had so many opportunities to comment about how blacks in the US have been mistreated. You had the incident with the black bird watcher who a white woman attempted to use the police to punish his disrespect with the police. You also had time to post about a black man who was put down mercilessly by a mad man in uniform. You didn't post any outrage until rioting started. So you went from clutching your pearls in mock outrage over what Biden said because it related to Trump, and was emphasized on Fox. To utter silence for days in between actual incidents effecting black people who you claimed to be so outraged that their honor was offended by Biden's words. But when one man's life was threatened by a woman acting as if she was a victim, and an others was killed you were not outraged. Perhaps because it didn't matter to you. Didn't effect you at all, so it's not my business, I don't care. Plus Fox didn't make a peep about it. Then when violence starts and Trump gets mad at Protesters when he did nothing to call for peace and for calm, instead he calls for police violence. Did you say anything when a black CNN reporter was arrested ? Racism exists when the dominate group does nothing because it does not bother them. You get outraged and take it personally when a person is not fair to Trump but when black men are mistreated you only comment when protest begins and if they offend your cult leader Trump.

So with a comprehensive federal study the Coronavirus started during a 3 week window in the US from mid January-early February and Jan 31 was the travel ban from China. The rest is History! Scientist are now saying people who were sick in Nov- Jan didn’t have the coronavirus but the basic flu strain that was going around at the time.

I love how my Tampa Bay Times buries this story on page 3 in small fine print. What a joke!

Let me put this in perspective that you understand. Since the actual treatment of black men by police does not directly effect you. Sports is really the only thing that effects you. Will you get mad at black athletes if they take a knee during the National Anthem ? Will you find that offensive ? You know who found it offensive and said they should shut up and not make Americans think about serious things while escaping to watch sports? I am a white guy. The only thing that will make mistreatment of black men in the US is when we say enough already. We love the police that is not a issue. I am a white guy American, gun owning conservative. If white men were killed so routinely in police custody could you imagine the outrage but it does not happen to biker gang members in jail or Aryan nation guys in jail or in police custody routinely does it ? I guess white criminals are less violent. I am pro life but for many pro life conservatives once the life is born, your on your own. The point was and remains, Trump had an intelligence report by National Center for Medical Intelligence in Nov 2019 warning of the potential pandemic. He ignored it. There were repeated briefings through December for policy-makers and decision-makers across the federal government as well as the National Security Council at the White House. For something to have appeared in the PDB, it would have had to go through weeks of vetting and analysis, according to people who have worked on presidential briefings in both Republican and Democratic administrations.

I agree with your principle but the numbers are vastly different.

To Flimflam's point, 450 white people shot vs 240 black people shot, looks like a big difference at face value but when you consider where those shootings occur and the national percentage of black people is roughly 15%, it changes that picture dramatically.
200 mil white people- 450 shot by cops .0000225%
30 million black people- 240 shot by cops .000008%

It is at least 4 times as likely based on those numbers.

I was only referring to the the shootings mentioned

That has little to do with the countless other things that transpired and the countless times one race is given the benefit of the doubt over another

I would argue that as horrific as the the crime committed was, it’s equally horrible that 4 other cops watched.

I wish nonviolence would work but sometimes it doesn’t

Protesters are often young and in a crowd people get violent. That is not ok, if these protesters break the law arrest and prosecute them. Enforce the law. What makes blacks angry is that they see how when they are mistreated and kill ed by a police officer the perpetrator is not punished equally under the law. Was the latest victim " Resisting arrest " or threatening the officer while on the ground handcuffed ?

Anyway, I am off to paint my gate outside after taking my wife for a check up at her doctor. It's a beautiful day outside. Guess what I work from home but my company laptop broke. I get to get paid while the new one comes. Paid vacation for like a week. If any of you are praying people pray for our nation and for a new leader who cares about more then his ratings and the stock market.

The point i was making is for people that are supposed to be keeping us safe, seeing that somewhere around 800-1000 people a yr die at their hands isn't ok. Thats alot of killing we don't hear about. I'm absolutely not making the point that we don't hear enough about just white people dying, it was ALL people. Why is it countries like Canada, UK and Australia had less than a 100 police related deaths combined and we have 8X that

Something is not right when so many people of any race are dying at the hands of the people they are supposed to be protecting.

Flimflam, Dayners is a long time poster in very good standing. I have come to know him quite well off the board due to our administrative duties. I can see how you might read it as you did, the percentages make the case. However I can reassure you that was not his intent based on my experience on and off the board. Please don't rush to judgement. I honestly believe his point was a more broad based indictment of police brutality against all people.

I agree completely. Horrific incident that could have easily been avoided. What infuriates me further and in many ways what enrages many of the protesters..... what would have happened if there was no video? How many lives have been taken and dismissed by administrative chicanery. The blue wall of silence, blue code or blue shield, call it what you will, is real and has buried the truth to many "mysterious" deaths and disappearances.

Thanks Doc, I apologize to everyone on here who misunderstood the point i was trying to make, the last thing i was trying to convey in an obviously poorly worded post by me was to sound racist in anyway, shape or form.

My views are ALL lives matter and the fact that one race gets harassed far more than others and much worse by the police in this country is a travesty and speaks to a much larger problem in this country IMO. Alot of people think and act like were better than other people in the world because were American. If the last couple months have proven anything, we a nation as a whole haven't been able to handle these kind of events "better" than any other countries that we routinely look down on or criticize in the media
