Will you ever stop both-sides-Ing

Nope. That will never happen. They bash AOC for saying she worked with an immigrant and that person is from Toronto and thus is an immigrant. Their point being that people from white areas aren’t really immigrants and only people from brown and black countries count as immigrants.
Usually when people talk about immigrants doing or accomplishing something like its this big important thing that you should know about they're not talking about people who fly in from a wealthy 1st world country, like Canada or Singapore. In America the "immigrants tale" has always been associated with someone who left everything they know and came here penniless and accomplished something, calling someone like Drake or Prince Harry immigrants who came to this country and found success is TRUE but its not the same as like a refugee who does it.
My stance on vaccines/covid has nothing to do with a "culture war".
Outside of that, I basically just want healthcare for all and for us to stop destroying the planet. Those also have nothing to do with the culture war. Taxing the rich more has been a consistent belief of mine even before I'd say I drifted more towards the left and helps us achieve both of those things, and much much more. That is also not anything a part of any culture war.
YI will say, you've been less of a Bothsides Barry lately. I have noticed that.
From the first sentance.
They weren't the ones making a big deal out of her "immigrant story" that was AOC, so they did what reporters do, and looked into her history, it turns out this person is from the 3rd world country of...Canada.Quote:
The “immigrant” designer Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez praised for being behind the “Tax the Rich” dress she wore to the Met Gala is an immigrant from — Canada.
If your going to make a big deal out of someone being an immigrant, maybe they should be from somewhere more exotic than America Jr.
So her description of the person was too accurate...that's the rights problem with what AOC said? And maybe you should see a problem with the only proper description of immigrants as being stinky smelly interlopers? Maybe it's ok to talk about all immigrants and not just connecting them to being people who don't belong here?
I think the fact that politicians will screw us out of universal healthcare and reasonable measures for improving the environment just to "win" against their opponents is part of that culture war.
I hate the Democrat party because they are anti-progress to maintain power which they can do because they know they will get the majority of the votes regardless, I hate the GOP because they are ONLY about maintaining power.
I loved the optic of her at a 30k plate dinner walking around with a tax the rich dress while her masked up help carried the end of her dress for her.
Because your little commie gal who constantly preaches about how rich people are the root of all evil showed up to the most extravagant event of the year wearing a dress so gaudy it needed a government employee to operate the tail end of it.
"Hur dur, she didn't pay."
No **** she didn't pay, lol. Commie politicians don't actually pay for things.
And I love that the help all have to be masked while the "sophisticated" don't have to abide. Rules for thee...
Hey, how many more galas with the elite does she need to attend before those broken promises start working out?
She's an absolute gift from the left and it's hilarious watching you guys desperately defend her obvious hypocrisy.
It's Animal Farm 2021 but the pigs were replaced with a horse.
She seems to really upset you.
I wonder if you were this upset when Mitt Romney attended? Or the multiple years Trump attended?
And of course, all guests had to wear masks while indoors and pass a PCR test that day as well as show proof of vaccination, but again I understand that you're not really into letting reality get in the way of some impotent rage.
To quote Russell Brand “When I was poor and I complained about inequality they said I was bitter, now I’m rich and complain about inequality they say I’m a hypocrite. I’m starting to think they just don’t want to talk about inequality.”
Yeah, this is one thing that if Special was complaining about I would agree with him. I get the tickets were comped and the dress was designed for her but its just a bad look all the way around. The message is hypocritical to the event and how much that dress probably cost to make.
I don't hate AOC but she clearly likes the attention that her meteoric rise has given her. Maybe the backlash will make her circle back to her core values in wanting to help people because as much as I don't always agree with her politics, I think she has a stronger conscience than most other politicians. This wasn't that though.
It someone gave me court side tickets for the Knicks and I went would I then be a hypocrite if I said I think wealth inequality is a problem and that the rich don’t pay there fair share in taxes? If so please explain how bc im missing it. I can only guess this is similar to how some people get mad when a poor person has something nice.

Probably not but this does her no favors. What she campaigns on is antithetical to everything that Met Gala and that dress is. I get there is irony in that as well though because all these major politicians indulge in being pampered constantly but given her political ideology, there are ways to better ways to get that message across than hob knobbing with major celebrities at events that costs 10s and 100s of thousands of dollars to attend and be a part of.
If she was going to construction sites in a hard hat and suit and “ceremonially breaking ground” I think your point would make more sense. She not pretending to be something she isn’t. She is wearing a dress and taking to people. She is also getting free press for her messahe. Is she supposed to spit on rich people like Johnny Rotten?

Yeah I get it gives the message greater exposure but its in the same vein as an event that is arguably one of the most expensive to attend in the world and is littered with millionaires and billionaires. Many of those same people she wishes were paying more tax dollars and some of which she has condemned before. Tell me they sold the dress for charity and I'm a lot more comfortable with it. To me, this is just her capitalizing on her own celebrity when really she should take no part in event like that.
If she was some typical Democrat, it would be different but she's not.
How about not wear the dress or show up to the event at all? I doubt that dress cost 200 bucks to make btw. Times that by probably a 100. Look, I get what she was trying to do but I'm not 100% sure that was the platform to do it from even if its within eyeball range of people the message was intended for.
Tax the rich while you sit in an expensive dress, being catered to hand and foot, for a one night event that costs the average person's yearly salary to attend. I honestly don't care that she didn't pay for it either. Someone did on her behalf.
Not to mention all the partying done afterwards which I am sure she stayed around for.
I take issue with the Met Gala during a pandemic anyways. Its so shallow and pedantic to begin with. That's only magnified now. Furthermore, its complicated by politicians and celebrities that want everyone to get vaccinated and wear masks indoors but at the same time are partying, eating and drinking at an indoor event. Those things don't coincide with masking up and I didn't see one picture of AOC wearing a mask. The staffers of the event certainly were though. I get everyone had to be vaccinated and provide a negative PCR test but that doesn't mean that event was completely sterile and without people who were pre-symptomatic. It could very well be a super spreader event.
AOC was one of those politicians pushing so heavily for everyone to get vaccinated and wear masks, especially in her hometown city of NY. Its just not a good look all the way around.
