In regards to the idea that college isn't for everyone, I'm assuming in a "free college" government program model, it would also include Trade Schools.

sounds like FOX. She must be destroyed.
No, of course not. Those are private institutions. You want to go to Harvard and get all the benefits that entails well, you pay for it. I say this knowing that this plan would literally make my job not exist. But It would make the system work. The best students would start working to get into the best state schools.

You must be talking about a different Shapiro. He's objectively well known as a transparent walking YouTube comment section. Anytime his "facts not feelings" **** is disproved he just makes a lateral move. I can't stop laughing at the fact that you guys think he is some master debator or some ****. He literally called the cops on a woman for owning him in a "debate" (read: him talking really fast and not letting anyone dare call him out on his vile racism and made up facts).
Very fitting that he became the champion of a guy whose followers are famous for that, after bending the knee and going back on everything he said like the shriveled fraud he is. Any of the "facts" you guys are crediting him for, just remember he argued against them last year with the same fervor he boasts about them now. Too bad he had to change them when his boss said it wasn't good for ratings. lol what a ****ing loser. Ocasio-Cortez is not well spoken and has only a fledgling understanding of some of the political world, but she would destroy Shapiro simply by not spouting rehearsed fake facts super fast to appeal as an intellectual. Maybe flea can chime in and help me understand the charm of Shapiro since he's cut from the same racist Malcom Gladwell cloth.
He is no better than Milo. Stop it. If anything he is worse because he has duped people into thinking he is actually respectable with his racism while Milo hides behind the guise of trolling (even when he is calling for journalists to be murdered).
I use to listen to all those cable news shows until I just got bored with their predictability. Now I listen to interesting conservations like the Joe Rogan podcast or dig up old comedy routine, Lewis Black, Carlin. Youtube is starting to be my go-to channel.
LOL, I haven't watched wrestling since they were the WWF with Stone Cold and the Rock. We are supposed to take wrestling seriously, right.
I'm a big comedy guy and think guys like Rogan are just regular smart dudes who have some good ideas and are funny. They talk **** for ratings but at least they are shameless about it. Those guys are way better for entertainment. If you ask me a specific question about a subject i really don't have a go to source and read multiple things and trust my BS meter.
It is the lifestyle and experience that is different from my own, that attracts me to his podcast. MMA, training, comedy career, all things that totally different from my life. They are honest, that is what is appealing. No agenda or something to sell. A far cry from most news shows.
If they can someone keep competition alive in taxpayer funded schools, maybe I would be on board. The potential issue I see, is a school trying to keep their academic requirements a certain level might be viewed as discriminatory for not letting lower level students in.
I know the saying goes, "you are as strong as your weakest link", but we don't need to use that as the company motto for our country per say. If you are really smart, you belong in a better college than those who just can't compete with your grades/test scores, etc.
Not really, given that I asked for evidence that she is a fraud, however you wish to define it.
You have said that Ocasio-Cortez is a “pretty face with no depths to her beliefs.” She is a “potted plant”...an “opportunist” who made a “wholesale change” to “fit the latest trend.”
You alluded to some blogs she wrote about Adam Smith from 2009 to 2011 while studying economics in college (as reported by FOX News). Is that your evidence?
If that’s it, pardon me if I choose to reserve judgment.
If it were to work it would have to be that way. Now I am not one who is against making sure the best students from poorer backgrounds don't have a shot. But honestly a lot of the most advanced statistics I use in my work come out of the education field. If you think stats are important to baseball you haven't met education researchers. The other thing you would see happen is that the private schools would have to LOWER their tuition rate to compete with the public system.
To be honest. The main problem in schools is not intelligence. It's effort. This is why I see working for a living before coming into school as a huge positive. I can teach critical thinking. it's hard but it's doable. I can't teach you to put in the effort to do the reading and edit and edit and edit.
I'm not sure she is a fraud.
I am quite positive that she is stupid.
ok, ok. Fair enough. yes, there has to be a way to maintain standards. And even certain minimums to get in to a taxpayer funded college all together. Obviously there are weighted factors like what kind of school/system you might come from (some are worse than others), but I love the idea of maintaining in order to stay in as well.
As always, I seem to be asking for evidence.
I do know that Ms. Ocasio-Cortez graduated cum laude with a degree in Economics and International Relations from Boston University in 2011.
She may be a political neophyte, and she is on record promoting socialist initiatives, but I’m not sure either qualifies her as stupid per se. She may have gotten lucky in terms of the primary race, but again, that’s not grounds for calling her stupid (in fact, seems to have been a pretty smart idea to have run against Crowley at this time).
There is a little trial of this going on right now with the Excelsior program in New York... It's last dollars in money making State unis effectively free for any family. Not only do you have to maintain the grades, you have to stay on track credit wise to graduate in 4 years. No 5th year seniors.
why do you have to take some jab at me instead of actually countering what I said.
nobody is afraid of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. she continues to be exposed for not knowing WTF she is talking about.
she even admitted her ignorance.

Ocasio-Cortez starts controversy with comments on Israeli ‘occupation,’ admits she's 'not the expert'
Quote:
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Democratic socialist who became a rising political star after her victory in New York’s congressional primary last month, referred to Israel’s "occupation” of Palestine in an interview before admitting that she is “not the expert” on the subject.
During an interview on PBS’s "Firing Line" on Friday the congressional candidate raised eyebrows when she said, “I also think that what people are starting to see-- at least in the occupation of Palestine-- is just an increasing crisis of humanitarian condition and that to me is just where I tend to come from on this issue.”
When asked to expand on her comment, Ocasio-Cortez hesitated for a moment before explaining how “Palestinians are experiencing difficulty in access to their housing and homes. Oh I think — what I meant is that the settlements that are increasing in some of these areas and places where Palestinians are experiencing difficulty in access to their housing and homes…”
Ocasio-Cortez was then asked to further clarify her comments, in which she acknowledged that she is not familiar with the ins and outs of the ongoing clash in the Middle East.
“I am not the expert at geopolitics on this issue,” she said with a laugh. “I am a firm believer in finding a two-state solution on this issue, and I’m happy to sit down with leaders on both of these — for me, I just look at things through a human-rights lens, and I may not use the right words. I know this is a very intense issue.”
