Some local governments don’t collect property taxes from senior citizens for the same reasons you mentioned. Also, schools help the community as a whole. The role of the government is not to take money to attempt to guarantee equal outcomes, just equal opportunities.

What if I don't think they benefit me at all but I think unemployment insurance does? Then for me taxes for schools would be theft and those for unemployment would not. I also think don't anyone trying to guarantee equal outcomes

I would attempt to contact members of your local government and state that. That’s the main issue I have with Govt spending, it’s always spent foolishly as if spending other people’s money is easier than spending your own.

If someone doesn't like what the government has determined will benefit the community, then they should get involved with their government to make a change. If voting isn't enough, try running.

Maybe, but ‘efficient’ businesses are usually ‘inefficient’ towards the livelihood of the general population in just about every possible way.

Govt and corporations have different purposes. Many corporations fulfill their purpose. Govt has failed many times.

Running a business on a budget and working consistently with the government shows the difference in the two. I’m sorry your hopes were crushed. Maybe the Govt can fix that for you?
