Ya that's interesting. Most national emergencies that are still in effect seem to be directed towards foreign conflicts. I don't really see how those would be considered national emergencies though. For example:

I guess for myself, a national emergency would be in response to an invasion, or an attack like 9/11, a massive weather disaster or earthquake, civil unrest etc. Like something that only happens once a generation or something. What do you think?

I do not know exactly what you are referencing, but it stands to reason that we’d be reading a different (not necessarily better or worse - just different) his-tory had Hitler confined himself to his borders.

The weird part is that what we’d be saying, much less reading, is nothing.

Very, very few of us — if any — would even exist.

I don't have a problem with traditional nationalism, or national pride. It's a long way from totalitarianism or autocracy.

What she said about Hitler sort of skips past the whole Holocaust thing, and that seems a mistake, but if you look at other rulers who systematically killed their people, historically at least the world hasn't really seemed to care all that much.

The Green New Deal is going to replace all 240 million cars with electric cars. At the current rate that's $10 quadrillion dollars. Let alone replacing/upgrading every structure in the country.

I don't have an issue with regulations for new construction and new cars having considerably higher green standards, but actively replacing everything is nuts.

I saw a study about 7 years ago that said we could make new road surfaces more resilient to temperature, use less material, and be reflective of heat rather than absorbing the heat (world wide it would supposedly account for almost half of the global warming temp change), and it would cost less for tax-payers than current road technology. The Asphalt lobby defeated it quietly. The system is broken.

She's promising economic prosperity with a plan that can't be paid for and would lead to serious economic downturn.
