Imagine if this mindset had been applied to other sciences?
“Guys we think we have found a cure for polio if we..”
BULL ****! I don’t believe it and my ex attorney congressman told me not to believe it.
“But we’ve actually been studying this for decades and..”
Shut it down! Scam! It’s a hoax!
“Here’s the evidence and peer reviewed tested...”
FAKE! FAKEY FAKE FAKE!
I've mentioned "The Population Bomb" a few times because it is the classic example of people overreacting to or giving way too much credence to "the experts." The author Paul Ehrlich (was a Dr. so he must be right) was wrong on so many counts and millions bought into his theories (posted as fact).
Y2K, which you didn't comment on, was another one. Some computer "experts" noted computers weren't set up for '00 years (how could they tell the difference between 1900 and 2000? OMG we're all gonna die). When the calendar rolled around…ta da…nothing happened.*
Let's not forget the Mayan Long Count calendar. The calendar stopped at whatever date that was and people expected the worst. Some of us thought maybe they just ran out of room on the stone.
Early 2000's (2005 0r 2006) thew US had so many hurricanes they ran out od letters and had to start re-using the As Bs Cs etc. Climatologists told us we had to get used to such activity as this would be the norm. Never came close to that again. So they were wrong there.
Are we warming…absolutely.
Anything we can do about it…I doubt it. It's a cycle. The US has done more than it's share of cleaning up its act. Trump pulled us out of the Paris agreement because a lot of the rest of the world is doing nothing. China. India, and the developing nations (love that description) are doing far more to create pollution than we ever did and seem to be doing nothing on their end to stop it. Whatever we do will be pointless until they do their share. Good luck with that.
As far as the "entire academic community" goes…there are plenty who disagree. So who is right? No one can tell for sure. The faxt that the planet has cooled and warmed over the centuries would seem to make this cyclical.
The one problem we can control…booming population…is never discussed. (And again, this is something the US has controlled on our end. Our population has pretty much slowed and leveled off). Most of the polluting countries have populations expanding at ridiculous rates. And nothing seems to be said. Birth control policies in African Nations, India, South America would go a long way towards solving some of their problems. But nothing is ever said. But don't worry about that. All the problems of the world fall on the US for wanting to put in a pipeline or fracking.
It all started out as "global warming" and when it didn't actually warm up that much it morphed into "climate change." Nicely done, I'll have to admit. When you call it "climate change" you can easily tie it into the occasional overly cold or snowy winter. An unusual number of tornadoes. And now grasshoppers in Las Vegas. "See I told you so. Climate change."
………
*I actually made a good deal of $$$ from Y2K by producing booklets, pamphlets, brochures, mailings etc. for a guy that made a ton of $$$$ selling this stuff to a nutty panicked public. He had it all figured out…energy grids, ATM failures, gas pumps shutting down, commerce coming to a standstill, water network failing etc. Also sold Y2K survival products. And January 1, 2000…nothing happened. No idea where he is now.
First Bolded: The only person I have ever seen overreact to that book is you because you won't shut up about it.
Second and Third Bolded: People expected the worst. Scientists and Academia did not grab their hair screaming. I assure you there were zero or near zero actual scientists who seriously thought the world would end when the Mayan Calendar ran out.
It seems you are confusing scientists and experts with lay people. Which is unsurprising considering how often you take the word of people who have no idea what they're talking about over actual experts.
Fourth Bolded: Well if Sluggo the non-scientist says there's nothing we can do about it, that's a wrap folks! Clearly based on having read the book The Population Bomb once 25 years ago he's an expert in all things science...
Fifth Bolded: We are the second biggest polluter on earth, so no, developed countries are not polluting more than we ever did. There is only one country that has ever out-polluted us.
Sixth Bolded: If by plenty of people who disagree, you mean people like you who are not scientists and have no expertise in the subject whatsoever, absolutely. If by plenty who disagree who are actual scientists the answer is no. Let's put it in a way you can understand, the number of people who disagree in the scientific community is equivalent to the number of people who arrive at the US border and have legitimate asylum claims (and according to you, that is almost none).
Seventh Bolded: Wait... you keep harping on how wrong the Population Bomb was and yet you are saying our biggest problem is overpopulation?! :laugh2: Seems like you actually agree with the Dr. who wrote the book lol
Eighth Bolded: It actually warmed up more than we thought.
To sum up this entire conversation: you are going to be one of the number of people who in 50 years textbooks will be asking "how could people be so naïve and not believe in Global Warming?". My only regret in this conversation is you will not be there to realize how wrong you were.
If we're all going to die, then why does everyone safe for retirement or their children's college or the list goes on and on and on. Why should I care what happens to my assets and children after I croak? It wouldn't possibly be that maybe there are folks who care that their children or future generations might not be negatively adversed by the actions that they take today. Could it?
Pretty sure the observable objective fact that Trump has been wrapped in and involved in racism for the outstanding majority of his relevant existence and that he thinks America needs a radical change isn't ignorance, but hey, you clearly only learned who Trump is once he started campaigning--oh wait, that was based on racism too lol.
Guess you don't have an excuse.
I love you trollowski, you are hilarious. you believe whatever you are told by the left, like immigrants are being tortured.
the issue of illegal immigration is not racist. I've showed numerous times that even Democrats used to be against illegal immigration. I've showed numerous times the same conditions in immigrant detention facilities when Obama was President. these are Obama's cages, but keep believing the left.
I even replied to you something to back up what Trump said, and you had no reply.

Good on AOC! She is effectively using her large social media following and basic facts to point out what should be changing.
I just think it’s hilarious that you could pick ANY topic and find Trump contradicting himself on Twitter. He’s like the best politician on steroids. Just no care in the world for being genuine. Complete bull ******* and his base will tell you how “he’s a straight shooter”. Ha!
Tweets where he bashes Obama for golfing too much, and yet he surpassed 8 years of Obama golfing in 3 years as president. Iraq, Iran, Hillary, gay marriage....any topic and you can find a Trump contradiction.
He’s such a **** stirring scumbag.

"Due to severe racial disparities in certain states, the Electoral College effectively weighs white voters over voters of color, as opposed to a 'one person, one vote' system where all our votes are counted equally."
- Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez
"A democracy is nothing more than mob rule, where fifty one percent of the people may take away the rights of the other forty nine" - Thomas Jefferson
“What me worry?” - Alfred E Neuman
If Hillary had one, would this idiot be calling for Electoral College reform???
I don't seem to remember hearing much about this when BO was president.

first, why was this called a white supremacist parade?Quote:
But the marchers were met by even more left-wing counter protesters, numbering more than 1,000, turning the event into competing demonstrations. The entire length of the parade's route was flanked with fencing, but the demonstrators followed alongside the whole way en route to City Hall.
Protesters, including many who identified with the anti-fascist group antifa, shouted "Nazi scum!" Some greeted the straight-pride marchers with their middle fingers and yelled expletives. Many LGBTQ advocates protested as well. Other people just stopped to see what was going on.
"Boston doesn't want you!" one man yelled. "We outnumber you!"
A massive contingent of police, including extra officers from neighboring cites, was present throughout, often getting in between the competing sides. They wore helmets, held gas masks and some had military garb. The police presence was so large, and fencing so vast, that many marchers struggled to make their way inside the plaza outside City Hall for the rally that followed the one-hour parade that stetched one mile.
Some counter protesters confronted police, who at one point appeared to use pepper spray on a group of anti-parade demonstrators.
Thirty-six people were arrested for a range of different charges, according to Boston police Sargent Detective John Boyle. He said four officers sustained injuries that were not life-threatening.
straight pride should be equal to gay pride.
if people should not be protesting gay pride, then equality should mean people should not be protesting straight pride.
this is a list of people arrested and why..

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez Promotes Fundraiser For Boston Protesters Associated With Antifa
Quote:
Reports from the USA Today and the Herald indicate that many counter-protesters identified with Antifa, a far-left group that embraces violence to achieve political goals.
One member of Antifa told the Herald, “We’re covered in black so when we attack these guys we can’t be prosecuted.”
“They are fascists, 100%. How else are you going to get them to shut up?” he was quoted as saying.
The “Straight Pride Parade,” which took place in Boston Saturday, was planned by Super Happy Fun America, a group which “advocates on behalf of the straight community.”
Though the New York congresswoman refers to the protesters as “white supremacists,” Super Happy Fun America denied having connections to racism in a statement issued to The Daily Caller.
“Not sure which parade and ceremony she watched over the weekend, but of the 12 speakers on our stage, five were African-American, four were women, and three were African-American women. This was not intentional on our behalf, they reached out to us in support of our movement–it happened organically. If you remove the three main organizers from the lineup, the majority of speakers were African-American.
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Ayanna Pressley also shared a link to a bail fundraiser set up in advance of the parade, which gives people the impression that they condone illegal behavior. This is not a good example for elected officials to set, and contributes to dangers associated with free-speech and activism in general.
The only connections to racism are in the deluded minds of protesters who all repeat the same mantra against those whom they disagree with: Racist, Fascist, Nazi, etc., are what detractors fall back on when their arguments are met with logical and rational push-back. They cannot win on an intellectual level, so they resort to name-calling. Those same people must have missed the Israeli flags and African-American supporters in our group.”
The Caller reached out to Rep. Ocasio-Cortez’s office to ask why she is supporting individuals who openly planned violence and allegedly assaulted police officers, but received no comment.
Antifa groups across the United States have engaged in violence with many conservatives and journalists in general in recent years.
In 2018, an NBC News crew was attacked by Antifa members in Charlottesville, Virginia, and reporter Andy Ngo was hospitalized in June after being assaulted by Antifa in Portland, Oregon.
Last year, Fox News host and Daily Caller co-founder Tucker Carlson’s home was subject to Antifa intimidation, as a mob formed outside of his home while his wife was inside alone.
straight pride. why is it okay to have gay pride but not okay to have straight pride. that is hypocritical.
if anyone wanting straight pride is doing so because they are anti gay then that is a problem. if people having straight pride just want to be equal then that should be good.
this would be comparable to Black Lives Matter, where BLM does not mean white lives don't matter. having straight pride should not mean they are against gay pride.
this is why social media can be dangerous, any nut with a lot of followers post this nonsense.
super racist immigration policies. despite this issue with immigration being about illegal vs legal.
Is it really about illegal vs legal? Have you read about the Canadian citizens who are being denied entry to the US without any reason being given? Oddly turns out they are all Muslim. Or how Trumps policies virtually eliminating legal immigration for most of these people and aid that was actually working in curtailing illegal immigration has resulted in the huge surge in illegal immigration? He’s made his bed, you can try justifying it all you want but the policies Trump has put in place are certainly open to the interpretation of being racist.
No, they held them for hours and questioned them.

And before you say, well that’s just 6 people, it’s 6 people in two weeks who have gone to the same law firm.
Upon further review, this was not a quote from Jefferson. Don't believe everything you read on the internet:o
We must consider long-term interests rather than short-term gratifications. To do this we must avoid impulses of passion and conflicts of interest. The American constitutional system is not a direct democracy but is a representative republic. According to classical theory, republics could exist only in relatively small territories, where citizens knew one another personally and could assemble face-to-face.
The internet has made the American democracy more inclusive than it was in the Founders’ day, amplifying the voices of women, minorities, and other disadvantaged groups they excluded. And although our national politics is deadlocked by partisanship, compromise remains possible at the local level, where activism is often organized online and can lead to real change.
I have heard nothing at all about immigration from Canada.
6 is such a small number it's nothing compared to anything at the southern border.
what specific policies would be more racist?
Trump has called for legal merit based immigration.
in order to show that Trump is against legal immigration one would have to show that Trump wants to stop all immigration. not limiting legal immigration because that itself is still wanting legal immigration.
yes it is.
there would be 2 comparable sexual orientations. gay and straight. gay pride is apparently great, they have parades. so why would it not be the same to have pride for being straight. that is not equality, that is hypocritical.
if anyone actually wants real equality then things should be EQUAL for both gay and straight.
