That's because there's a boatload of white people in the US. In terms of raw numbers, I'd bet more white people vote based on candidate being white than Hispanics or blacks do (but again, that's attributable to there being a majority of white people in the US).
And I agree with your overall point, if you are voting identity, you are not voting the issues and are basically uninformed. But I also think just because you aren't voting based on identity doesn't mean you are voting on the issues or are basically informed.
I have no idea the answer to this question, but how many people do you really think are up to date/informed on a pretty substantial political basis? meaning, how many voters do you think really study the issues, before they make decisions?
I truly believe it's a small-ish number. And it depends where you are obviously.
I suppose with a 2 party system you pretty much know where you are at by a certain age, even though we evolve as humans, etc. Or more simply, you know which side stands on each issue by a relatively young age. Meh
I used to read up on local candidates quite a bit, I voted both ways for some time. The last 2 years, my vote has shifted a certain way, so I spend less time now researching. Feel kinda bad about it, but I also know I have opinions that won't be swayed by a good campaign anymore.
First Bolded: Doubtful. There are 197 million white people in the US and 37 million black people. If every black person voted based on race that means less than 18% of white people would voted based on race to be less than the number of black people doing so. Obviously not every black person votes based on race so the number gets even smaller for white people.
Like I said, white people think that every other race votes solely for their own race except white people.
Second Bolded: Tough to say. I have one for you:
Brilliant black girl with all the education and all the connections runs as a Republican in the Deep south. White Republican clone runs against her.
Who wins? Why do you think so many districts haven't had a black representative?
What % of whites vote strictly white?
What % of blacks vote strictly black?
If whites voted strictly white, how do ole BO win the president twice? A lot of whites must have voted for him.
Bolded…probably the white person but it would be far more closer than you think. I'd guess 55 - 45. (At least I tried to answer your question. You sidestepped mine. A common problem here.)
There are a lot of closed minded whites. No question about it but nowhere near like how minorities see candidates. I would have thought the Obama elections made that clear.
First Bolded: As the guy claiming that all minorities are voting based on race and white's aren't, I was hoping you could tell me the %'s...
Second Bolded: Once again, this is the white person going "everyone else votes for their own race except white people". Predictable.
Obama's election made what clear? That lots of black people voted for Obama just because he was black? If you'd look at the numbers (and I know looking at evidence isn't really your thing), you'd find that:
In 2000 and 2004 90% & 88% of black voters voted for Al Gore and John Kerry.
In 2008 and 2013 95% & 93% of black voters voted for Barack Obama.
That's a 5% difference. That's a very small amount. It comes out to about 800,000 voters according to this link:

As for sidestepping your question, I didn't answer because it's a pointless hypothetical that you have ingrained into your head and won't change no matter what. Newsflash: The candidate who represented Ocasio-Cortez's district before her was an old white dude. If Hispanics were so busy voting for Hispanics in their district, how did that old white guy even win in the first place?
