In NYC there are people that live in the suburbs and commute to wok at a monthly cost of over $400 or more (some may park at the train station fir a fee, then the train from the suburbs to Grand Central or Penn, then the subway from there to work.) Could be 2 hours each way. I knew of a few people that only went home on weekends and stayed with a friend from Monday to Thursday night. One guy lived in PA.
That's unbelievable to me but some do it.Maybe other expensive cities are like this too. I dunno. Where do people in San Franciso that just have regular jobs live (waiters, clerks, retail sales people etc.) Unless they double or triple up, I can't see how they pay the rent.
