Ah, classic
You see these sorts of criticism from the right all the time. They're pretty damn stupid. First, FlashBolt doesn't actually care about climate change, so it's all in bad faith in the first place. He doesn't mind that people drive in vans.
It's like criticism people who want socialism for the ways they benefit from capitalism. We all live in the same reality. You can't operate as a socialist in a capitalist society. What do people expect? I work for one of the largest companies in the country. I'm a socialist. I'm just trying to ****ing get by :laugh2: I don't have a choice.
When I bought my first car 5 years ago, I couldn't afford an electric or hybrid car. So every day I am burning fuel and contributing to the problem. But the reason we have a climate crisis is not because of the average person. The impetus is not on the individual, it's on the government and the large corporations that are largely responsible for the problem.
Bernie got criticized for something similar a few weeks ago from a Clinton staffer. They ripped into him for using a private plane while he was...wait for it...campaigning for Clinton in the waning weeks of the election. He visited 14 events in 14 different cities for her over a 4 day period. What the hell else do they want from him? To drive to each place? Unfortunately, that's all we have right now. That's a problem, but again, that's the reality we live in.
It's deflection. It's bad logic. It's stupid. People who don't want to do anything about climate change criticizing someone who is trying to shoot for the moon to make a difference, merely because they exist in this incredibly imperfect reality? That's insane to me.
A few years back, I was studying at an institution close by to AOC at the same time she was going. I was told to write an essay on a book regarding frugal conservativism. I wrote about how wealth inequality is challenging upward mobility and the Professor gave me a C grade because he didn't agree with me. This was one of the reasons I dropped out of College. I was also working long hard hours, 7 days a week and barely making ends meet or getting enough rest. This is why our generation is angry, because the system is cruel.
I have an old car with almost 300k miles on it and they want to tell you, you don't understand frugal spending.
I want to conserve water but I also drink it. I guess I’m a hypocrite too.
Technology got us here and it'll get us out. The idea that some politician is going to "fix" this problem is ludicrous. It's so much bigger than politics.
Politics play a key role in fostering the growth of said technology. And doing it in a timely manner.
I agree that technology will get us out of it. But the cost is going to be key. And the sooner we resolve it, the cheaper it will be. And if we are the ones to develop the technology, then that can also be an economical boon for us as well. Lastly it will likely not be a one stop fix, which means even more economic opportunity to be recognized here.

Yea apparently you need to be a full blown hippy in order to combat systemic issues that drive climate change.
They use the same broken logic on people who aren’t in soup lines for promoting ideas that benefit the common person.
And if they are poor than they have no credibility cause they haven’t been successful enough and don’t understand how things work.

I'm not saying it to be pessimistic. Socialism rapidly became a popular idea after the last recession around college campuses, I don't think any of us would have ever imaged Bernie would have be taken seriously in 2020 at the time. It was an authentic rebellion against the establishment.
there were times before Trump ever mentioned media was an enemy of the people when they were just "fake news" where he was attacked for doing that, back when he was still a candidate.
either criticizing media is unacceptable or it's not. what we are seeing is this continual double standard.
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is stupid.
ICE is not racist. ICE are against illegal immigrants. illegally immigration is about legal/illegal and not race.
this has nothing to do with legal Latino immigrants.
this has nothing to do with being more dangerous than American citizens. Americans being dangerous or criminals is irrelevant. that is a separate problem. illegal immigrants in America are literally in America illegally.
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is stupid.
AOC does not understand the point of a wall. I already called out her stupidity on this here..

Ocasio-Cortez Doesn't Understand Difference Between Berlin Wall, Border Wall
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is stupid. Democrats themselves agreed in the past for border fencing/barriers, and even now some Democrats continue to support this.
these walls/fences/barriers have worked.
can you change the color? what separates posts for me is green.
I couldn't find it so maybe it was in a different thread, but I remember sharing an article about how AOC has been attending a ton of smaller hearings that most every one of her peers are not, largely because she doesn't spend time calling donors. Something her peers spend a ton of time doing. A lot of people talked about it in regards to her preparation for the Cohen hearing.
Here's a photo from today of her at a consumer protection hearing.
The fact that it was a consumer protection hearing is a nice touch too. Who better to protect the consumers than someone who isn't concerned with begging for money from those who'd be most likely to exploit them?
Politics aside, she's truly doing most everything you'd want any politician representing you and your wants to be doing. Her priorities are correct. She's serving the correct people's interests.
Right keep thinking she isn’t corrupt

I feel 150% confident that she's less corrupt than just about any other politician. She's doing very transparent and simple things to ensure that truth. Between how she ran her campaign, her not accepting all sorts of money from all sorts of groups, to her backing stricter campaign finance reform than anyone else, to her only being politically relevant for like half a year....well, I am going to think she's not as hopelessly corrupt as the rest.
You support politicians who are WAY WAY WAY worse on these issues that these Dems you're trying to bash so desperately in all these threads. Bashing them for far, far, far LESSER sins than said politicians you support.
I just don't get why we need to take these people on the right about this ****. Again, get your house in order before you admonish others for lesser offenses.
You are not in a position to criticize others.
AOC attends hearings. She is doing her job. In other news, the sky is blue and there is a slight chance of rain tomorrow.
And she says the reason Omar and Cortez are receiving so much criticism is because they are people of color

thanks, I didn't know about that.
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez thinks people are after her.

Ocasio-Cortez fundraises off claim that AIPAC is 'coming after' her, Omar, Tlaib
Quote:
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) issued a call for donations from her supporters on Thursday following a pro-Israel activist's apparent threat to organize against her and two fellow Democrats.
In an email to supporters who funded her successful congressional bid with a wave of small-dollar donations, Ocasio-Cortez conveyed a line from an interview that American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) activist Stephen Fiske gave to The New York Times in which Fiske predicted that Ocasio-Cortez, as well as Reps. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) and Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.), would be leaving Congress sooner rather than later.
“They are three people who, in my opinion, will not be around in several years," Fiske told the Times.
The line was seen by Ocasio-Cortez and others as a direct threat aimed at her and the first two Muslim women elected to Congress over their criticism of the Israeli government and its treatment of Palestinians.
"Rashida, Ilhan, and Alexandria have at times dared to question our foreign policy, and the influence of money in our political system. And now, lobbying groups across the board are working to punish them for it," her team wrote in an email.
The letter goes on to reference a tweet from fellow Democratic Rep. Juan Vargas (Calif.), who tweeted this week that it was "unacceptable" for Democrats to question the U.S. relationship with Israel.
"Some members of Congress have even gone so far as to claim that 'questioning support for the US-Israel relationship is unacceptable.' But that’s not how our legislative process is supposed to work," Ocasio-Cortez's fundraising request states.
"Just a decade ago, it was ‘unquestionable’ to not support the war in Iraq. And we all saw what resulted from that lack of discussion and negotiation," the email continues.
Ocasio-Cortez defeated longtime New York Rep. Joseph Crowley (D) in a primary election last year in a shocking double-digit victory that led to her coasting to victory over a Republican opponent in November.
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has a problem with Republicans who did not vote for the recent bill. this from the same person who was the one Democrat vote against reopening the government.
No one should debate Ben Shapiro unless he puts his name on the ballot. That way he can't more get publicity over his stunts. Can't wait for debate though.:D Saying that Democrats are all anti-Semitic
If I said Shapiro was a political spin of Judge Judy, is that insensitive enough to call it anti-Semitic?
