1. I do realize. How many times do I have to say that I realize these are all political longshots? That isn't a good argument against why I shouldn't support the best healthcare option possible. A system that many, many, many other countries employ. Something Democrats and Republicans fight tooth and nail against because a lot of their rich donors wouldn't be as rich if it happened. So instead we have a system that is insanely expensive, doesn't cover everyone and encourages people to not regularly see doctors!

Everything is a longshot until it isn't. A lot fewer things would be if Democrats were bold and fought for good things. Tried to win and shape the public discourse. Didn't spend 4 years shouting "RUSSIA!" and instead focused on promoting policy and showing the people how they are better off if they vote for Democrats. Giving them a reason. But we're basically still at "Trump bad".

I hope to hell Biden fights harder because I fear that he's going to pivot towards austerity and I know what that means for elections in 2 and 4 years.

2. Obama's recent interview which, among other things, he defends his foreign policy, drone strikes, fiscal conservatism and conservative health care bill. And obviously his garbage response to the issue of policing. The man wants to fund police even more. Still.

3. I don't care what the polls say. I don't decide what's right and wrong based on polling. I know how much money our communities are spending on policing and how it's not making anyone safer. I say a video yesterday of like 10 policemen showing up to evict a family, including infants, from a house. Why the **** do we need 10 policemen showing up to do that? Showing up for mental health check ups. Parking on the sides of roads for 4 hours trying to catch people going 10mph the speed limit. If you don't like "defund the police" we can try "abolish the police" instead. It's not rocket science. Why can't we seek to make community policing more nuanced and well-equipped to handle things that don't require violence without the threat of violence? Again, if so many center/right Democrats weren't always so content with letting Republicans shape this narrative, maybe we'd see change. Nope. "Snappy slogan" is all we get from them. Dude couldn't even explain what "defund the police" actually means. He just had to punch left.

4. You haven't been around long. My posts on this site with regards to Obama since I've been here are probably 95% positive and 5% negative. That ratio is closing FAST, but for obvious reasons. Look where we are now?

I admit that I did not internalize a whole lot from my early exposure to religious teachings, but one thing I remember comes from the civil rights movement (the church’s youth director was active in it).

She said, “We are not called to be successful; we are called to be faithful.”

I believe strongly that important things often get done because of earlier efforts by those visionaries who had little or no chance of getting them done, but who still were willing to lay the groundwork for later success. I am not trying to lionize Ocasio-Cortez (nor I am denigrating Pelosi) because I don’t really know if she’s in it for the long haul, but so far — despite her missteps — she seems to have approached her job and her mission with some palpable integrity.

I think sh fervently believes in all her silly ideas; I don't think she is bright enough to realize that they are silly, unrealistic and unattainable. But they all sound great.

That's right I think. She isn't stupid. She's pretty bright. Hell, a lot of kids coming out of college after being indoctrinated by socialist cretins are just brainwashed but it doesn't mean that they are bright. Colleges and universities have become a nest of spiders that capture young minds in their web of falsity. Now the socialists want to create more legions of poison spiders with "free" education. Expect the working folks, though, to PAY for that socialist education. Its a bunch of crap.
