Gustafsson will get the next title shot at Cormier. Considering he is coming off a completely one-sided loss, I am a little surprised. With that being the case, I think the most fair thing to do would be Johnson vs. Bader for the #1 contender match.

So the word was the last Ronda Rousey ppv card got tons of buys, like over 1m or something. Did any of you guys ever see the close estimate?

This interview will bring you up to date with everything JDS.
1. He said he wants to fight a long time.
2. He wants a 4th fight with Cain
3. He doesn't like overreem
And many more

I just went back and watched Brock vs Cain. Brock won the first 2 minutes of that fight but he was gassed soon after. Normally Cain is the stronger guy but in the first 2 minutes of that fight Brock showed a small edge in strength. Brock looks totally gassed at the 2:40 mark. I do not know if could be fully healthy and in shape while gassing out so fast. Brock went for a take down and missed then stumbled and spun across the ring despite not really being hit. That did not look like a guy in fight condition.
I was just reading about Donald Cerrone. The guy has had 10 fights in 2 years. That is almost a fight every other month. That seems pretty rare for a guy at his level.
I would have liked to see him fight a few more guys before his illness so we could have a better idea of Brocks ceiling. Before his illness it was hard to imagine anyone stopping his power double leg. Even after his illness when he was a shell of himself he was able to take down Cain and Carwin. Not too many other people have.
anyone who knows anything about mma will tell you lesnar's standup was atrocious, you cant be a great fighter if you suck at stand up, especially when you hate getting hit, which he did. if lesnar got into mma in early 20s or earlier, then maybe he could have been great.
stop blaming it on the illness, once again, he recovered 100%, physically anyway.
He was clearly not the same fighter when he came back but he was still only a one trick pony. You could compare him to Tito really. Good takedowns, great cardio, good gnp. Although Brocks takedowns were amazing comparatively and Titos standup was better :laugh2: you get my point though. At the end of the day, he had some of the best takedowns we have seen and he could go for hours, at the beginning, but the Cain's and JDS's of the world would have gotten around that I believe.
He would have been a guy that would win 2 or 3, lose 1, maybe get another streak together but he would always hover outside the top 5. I do agree if he was able to start much earlier he could have developed his standup and made it somewhat acceptable and been a guy who could have really dominated the sport. Although I would have loved to see him be able to stay around longer, I am not sure his career would have been much different at this point, healthy or not.
lol what are you talking about, he was still bigger than carwin even after the surgery. the illness was serious, the doctors and ufc take it very serious, and allowed him to fight, cause he recovered a 100%
you think the ufc would allow a fighter to fight if he was seriously injured still? **** no, if you get a concussion you're not allowed to fight for months.
btw he still beat carwin after the surgery, showed great stamina also lol. then lost to cain, cause cain is a much much better fighter..
I agree Brock's takedowns were way ahead of his standup. The difference is before his injury Brock had power so if he did hit a guy while standing that guy felt it and sometimes went down. After that illness he had so little left via standup or takedowns. The take down he landed on Carwin was only after Carwin had totally gassed out. Actually both guys were gassed out. Before that take down both Carwin and Brock looked like fighters after 15 rounds. I'm not sure what would have been if he never got sick but I do know he was never the same after the illness.
Did anyone catch the presser after UFC 188? Did Dana say if JDS gets the next shot?
According to Dana, is either going to be Arlovski or Miocic.

If you are an MMA fan, you might want to be sitting down because this is going to hurt a bit.
According to a report from Brazilian outlet Combate, UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo Jr. suffered a fractured rib during a mid-week sparring session and his fight with Conor McGregor is in jeopardy.
The July 11 bout is set to headline UFC 189 and the company’s annual International Fight Week. The week is filled with fight festivities, a fan expo, fighter meet and greets, and countless other activities for the visiting throngs of fight fans making the pilgrimage to Sin City.
The UFC has invested plenty in the Aldo-McGregor main event and a potential cancellation to the biggest fight in featherweight history has fans and media on the edge of their seat as the combat sports world awaits official word from Aldo's camp.
Unfortunately, this isn’t the first time Aldo’s name has been linked to injury. In fact, Aldo has pulled out of four other UFC fights (UFC 125, UFC 149, UFC 153 and UFC 176) during his half-decade reign atop the 145-pound division.

After fighting three times in 2013, Aldo has managed just one fight since, and the fight with McGregor has earned the Brazilian the most attention his career; this, despite the fact “Scarface” hasn’t tasted defeat in nearly a decade.
A replacement could theoretically be brought in for McGregor. However, given his marquee value and contender status, it is hard to imagine the UFC risking the payday that would come once Aldo heals up by throwing McGregor into a stopgap fight.
If the UFC 189 main event does fall to the wayside, the co-main event welterweight title fight between champion Robbie Lawler and Canadian Rory MacDonald will almost surely be slotted in as a replacement.
The fight serves as a rematch of a 2013 bout at UFC 167, in which Lawler defeated MacDonald via split-decision. The victory over MacDonald paved the way for Lawler’s series with then-champion Johny Hendricks and eventual UFC gold.
But while a second fight between Lawler and MacDonald should be entertaining, it certainly isn't on par with Aldo-McGregor.
So now we await official word on whether the fight will carry on as planned on July 11. UFC president Dana White, for one, isn't ready to jump to any conclusions
Per @arielhelwani on @UFCTonight , @MightyMouseUFC will defend the flyweight title next against @JohnDodsonMMA. No date set.
Love this rematch!
Fabricio Werdum's team thinks Andrei Arlovski should be next challenger http://t.co/td6VInAusF
I like it!
Ive have seen a lot of stuff going around about someone else stepping in for Aldo and fighting McGregor for an interim title. Bunch of names come up and it would give us a chance to see if Connor is ready for Aldo.
This is new from Dana
I told everyone not to worry ;) http://t.co/Wz09zrJmHZ http://t.co/Fyg5KSLzuG
Looks like Aldo will fight injured.
My guess is he doesn't want to miss this massive payday
