I try and catch WSOF and used to watch NAAFS when they were around but I havent even seen anything from them lately. I got to see Stipe Miocic start his career there and same with Jessica Eye. I dont have the channels to see anything else though.Quote:

I loved seeing Nate bring CM back down to earth. Id still like to see CM vs RDA though.
I agree it was nice but Conor lost some luster IMO. I will watch a Frankie or Aldo or even RDA if they still want too go down that road but I dont feel like I have that need to watch him anymore because its over.Quote:

I agree he could get some of it back but his thing was being this unstopable fighter. If he grabbed some first round knockouts and/or another belt then I think that would change how I see him but the circumstances in that loss was about as bad as it could get. You had a fighter in Nate who wasnt ranked inside the top 3 in his division, who was coming in on 2 weeks notice and had no sparring before the fight, and who was dominated by the champ who Conor was going to fight before the injury.Quote:

Well yeah, Nate's JJ is no joke. He's a Gracie black belt. Conor actually has some pretty solid JJ himself but he's not on Nate's level.
Conor just needs to keep his damn hands up. He was fighting like he was still going against 145ers...
The loss clearly put a major dent in his persona and overall perception but he could definitely come back from it. Another win against Aldo or even a victory over Edgar will help a lot with that. I was surprised that he gassed so quickly though....I thought his cardio was very good and he liked to boast how he could go "all day." Well, that clearly wasn't the case. I would honestly like to see that fight again with Nate getting a full camp and Conor making some really basic adjustments and working on his cardio. He'll be back....but man, if he loses his next fight to Aldo or Edgar that would be a huge blow and pretty much kill any remaining hype. Nate choked most of the hype out, but there were still enough positives and angles for him to recover. A loss at 145 will really have Dana losing sleep.
Frankie Edgar just called out mcgregor on twitter and told dana and lorenzo as well as mcgregor to give the fans what they want. It should be edgar vs mcgregor and then aldo can get the winner.
Wonder what way they go with rdas next opponent, If ferguson can dominate his next fight he should get next shot but after diaz's last fight he'll prob get first shot
Edgar deserves it but Aldo was the only featherweight champ forever so you could say he deserves a rematch just as much. I don't really have a preference. I'd be psyched for both matchups.Quote:

I saw an article that McGregor wants to fight at ufc 200and it may be at 145lb. Edgar makes sense but we will see if Dana will let his boy fight Edgar.
Honestly, I think Conor would make short work of Edgar. Inside 2 rounds. Frankie deserves the fight, but I think Aldo has a better chance of beating him.
KG2TB not saying your wrong but what is the thought behind that? Edgar can take a shot. Conner will go for the home run and if he doesn't land Edgar will out work him. That's how I think that fight goes.

Looks like we will be getting mcgregor-Diaz II at ufc 200. Both fighters have verbally agreed per reports. That's disappointing. Mcgregor should be defending his belt. Seems unfair to everyone in that class especially Frankie
how often has Edgar been finished? I realized Connor finished Aldo but we've seen Frankie take a beating and keep coming more then once.Quote:

Yeah, this is true. Edgar is tough as nails but I just think Conor has the most knockout power out of anyone he's faced. However, it is a dangerous matchup for Conor too because of Edgar's cardio, wrestling, and fight intelligence. I guess we'll have to wait and see that one though. I like Conor vs Diaz II but not this soon. If Conor loses two in a row, it really hurts. If he wins however, especially by knockout, then it's a huge win for him and the UFC.Quote:

Yes I was talking about the Diaz fight. I think Conor did fine on his feet but not great. He was looking to land one punch with very few combinations. He cut Nate but he did not totally hurt Nate. As you mentioned he was walking in to punches with his hands down. That is not smart. Meanwhile Nate who has not been a power puncher hurt Conor on his feet. I said in the week before the fight I did not think Conor was taking this fight seriously. I do not know why. Maybe since Aldo went down so easy he thought he could knock anyone out. I never thought he should have accepted the fight at 170. Even he fights Diaz again I would insist it was at 155 because I do not view Conor as a 170 pound fighter. Even before the bell rang Conor seemed to be putting on some facade. That is only my opinion. I could be totally wrong. It could have been the pressure as you mentioned. I'm sorry to hear about Chris Leben's heart issue but I'm glad he will not be fighting anymore. I do not like seeing older guys put their future health in danger by staying in this sport too long. Leben may not have been champion but he was a warrior in that ring.

Conor is said to want a rematch to prove it was a fluke.
I like the fire and competitiveness from Conor. Wants to avenge the loss and get the bad taste out of his mouth. It will also be a huge money fight so that's obviously a factor that's played into it as well. Also, everyone said he should go back down to 145 and defend his belt, but imagine if he lost to Edgar and went on a 2 fight skid? If he loses to Diaz again, it won't be a huge shock. If he beats him, his stock will go soaring back up with him taking on the challenge head on and winning. They'll play up the fact that he wanted this fight when most fighters would have went back down, and he defeated the bigger man outside of his weight class. It's the smart play, IMO.
I dont know if I feel the same way. If Diaz beats him again I think that would be horrible for Conor. It shows that 170 is completely out of the question for him and makes him look vulnerable IMO. He needs to defend his belt and worry about trying to hold two belts before he makes that 170 jump again.
Certainly fair points McFlurry but I think if Conor loses again, they'll be able to play up the weight difference and Conor's fighting spirit to take on any and all challenges. Then he'll be able to back down and defend his belt. However, if he wins, the hype they'll be able to generate will be enormous and they could play up the fact that he beat a very tough fighter in a bigger weight class and didn't back down from the challenge when most other fighters would certainly play it safe. No matter the decision there's risk involved, but this decision provides the biggest upside while also minimizing the risk. I think most fans wouldn't be surprised if Conor lost to Diaz again, so a victory would be HUGE. However, if he went down to 145 and fought Aldo or Edgar, most fans would expect a victory. Losing at 145 would be a gigantic blow. The upside combined with the excuses of losing to Diaz at 170, outweight the upside and potential negatives of winning or losing at 145. Not to mention that McGregor vs Diaz is going to be a gigantic money maker.Quote:

That has to be a big confidence boost for Diaz to know that he took the best Conor has to offer. It looked like Conor was throwing fastballs on some of those punches he landed.
