I’ve been predicting 1 and 6 for a while now.... hopefully this comes to fruition!
Printable View
A lot of big changes can happen this off-season. Not only bc of draft but bc of the many top players who will be fa. Wished being here in Atl would be more appealing for these NBA players but you never know...
Geez, say, Williamson and Cullver. Trade Prince for strong bench player, while focus on deep shooters with 2nd rd picks (trade to move up?), and sign Durant (kidding) or a big name to fill out our starting line nicely. Klay would be a nice addition but gotta flash big bucks his way...
Culver
Williamson
Collins
Young
Thompson
I like Reddish and Hunter too. Either way, need couple years to develop in the league...
While picks 1 and 2 are the obious, Picks 3-11 will be interesting. To me it seems guys can be picked anywhere in that order with a few questionable, like Bol Bol, who could be steaks in this draft...
After reading over the draft possibilities, we can not land 1 and 6. 1 and 9 are a possibility. However if the Dal pick does not land one through three ( Dal would keep their pick in that circumstance) it falls into their win loss slot automatically. So 1 and 9 are the best we can do.
I know Culver and Hunter are better players now! I just see so much more upside with Reddish. One of my biggest issues with the Hawks over the years has been them attempting to draft safe picks. That comes to mind in the drafting of Childress, over Iguodala and Sheldon Williams over Brandon Roy. I don’t think this is the time for us to draft the safe player. I think we should be drafting the most talented player ( regardless of who’s better today). Who will be better in 3yrs would be my thought process.
If Cam is gone by 9 and we can’t trade up. The int prospect Doumbouya is starting to become really intriguing! Hays and Bol would also be options. Little should not be disregarded.
The teams that I think would be willing to give up huge assets to move up got Morant.....
Chi
PHX
Ny
Dal
Others could get in the bidding if we are land #2, but I think these teams would be in immediately if they land out of the top 2.
Chi could be an easy trade partner... sending #2 and KB’s contract to Chi for their 2019 pick, 2020 unprotected pick, and K.Dunn. This assuming they fall out of the top 3. Maybe just 2019 pick, Dunn and the right to swap in 2020 if they are still in the top 4.
If the Hawks landed #2 pick, I think I would want to stick with Trae and get most for #2 (Morant). I've been liking Trae more as the season progresses. Do I think Morant more athletic and plays better D than Trae, absolutely. Problem is, Trae has already proven himself and putting up better numbers thru the season. Morant hasn't yet, not saying he won't. I just have enough confident in Trae. I think he will have a SUPER career. Put someone like Culver alongside with him and he'll have more floor spacing. Reason why I say Culver is bc I think going in between best of what we can get and the worse via draft plus Dallas', I say we get Culver and Hunter. This happens, offer Vuvevic max as soon as the FA market opens. I'm content with this lineup moving forward:
Hunter
Collins
Vucevic
Young
Culver
Huerter
Prince
Bembry
Spellman
Len
Carter
Of course target best shooters available with our 3-2nd RD picks...
Just my opinion...... but Culver and Hunter have limited upside. I think both could make a difference day one and be well above avg rookies. It’s just 2-3 years down the line I think we will regret not going with higher upside guys like Reddish or Doumbouya. I don’t think we are good enough to go with the impact now guys. As the GM said we are still in the building phase. I see Reddish and Doumbouya having AS potential, now none of us know if they will reach their ceilings, but that’s why is called upside. While I see Hunter and Culver as guys who can make solid contributions now, just never at an all star level. Just my opinion though.
Either way I still prefer Zion to go elsewhere. There are teams out there who deserves getting someone who can take them far. Knicks won plenty even tho last few seasons been horrible. Same with the Lakers. Enough is enough, let other teams win. Not disrespecting the Lakers, Knicks, Celtics, Bulls, Cavs, etc. but would be nice to see other cities have a chance do well, aka the Hawks. If not the Hawks, I would like the Suns to get Zion even tho Morant would fit their biggest hole. I know, it is what it is but would love the see Atlanta all the sudden become a basketball city. Zion can make that happens. Sign Vureric (sp?) and still have another 1st rd pick (hopefully). I'm more than good with Reddish. Culver out of nowhere risen to one of best college player just this year. Will it continue? Only the NBA will answer that. Hunter, I like the guy. I agree with you he's shows potential to be an everyday player start his rookie season, but I think he'll continue to get better bc he's still raw. I came down to Reddish and Hunter to slide in SF slot especially if we do happen to trade Prince. I'm more than good with Reddish. All these guys will continue to improve IMO and be playoff contenders to say the least...
Of course I’d prefer we land Zion, but I’m totally against him going to the Suns! The Suns have tanked the last 4 years! They landed a superstar in Booker, a super athlete in Johnson, not to mention the Bender and Chris drat and landed the #1 last season. They have far more talent on their roster than any other team excluding the Lakers! I think it’d be a damn shame if they landed #1! They have robbed the nba and their fans of competitive basketball for the last 4 yrs on purpose! At least Philly and the Lakers can say they had injuries, the Suns just loose with talent to get more talent!
I also agree we should take a run at Vucevic or Horford if we don’t land Zion. If we do land Zion, Collins will be playing an undersized 5 and there would be no need.
I think the Hawks should take best player available regardless of position. I don’t think we have enough talent to pick for fit. The only difficult one being pg because of size. I wouldn’t be pissed if we took two wing players. So where is Billy Knight?
Hypothetically if we land number one and John makes it known he doesn’t want to play center, what would it take in return to move Collins?
Would Brandon Ingram and the Lakers first round pick be enough, for Collins?
Didn't he say he'll play wherever he's needed to help the team? Could get mixed up with the Braves' players. I know, diff sports. Lol. Not sure of that trade. Not saying I don't like it but I sure do like Collins. This is gonna be a BIG off-season for the NBA and I hope the Hawks make a big splash and have a successful draft year. Not much longer til we find out. I appreciate your feedbacks, SB75. Would be nice to see more like you here. I would chime in the Braves forum but seems to be someone will be critical of your post and drama starts. I want no part of that lol. I do enjoy reading there and I do post every once so often there. Thanks again, bud...
If JC is willing to do that it gives us a tone of flexibility! Having a front court of Collins and Zion, with Trae running the point, we would become the new and improved LOB CITY.
Well ego and pride ruined this Hawks forum once before so I get it. We had imposter fans who because they had the same favorite player as our fans, our fans agreed with the craziest of their ideas. We had a Knick fan pretending to be a Hawks fan and told us how Al Horford’s post game was his bread and butter? Our fans loving Al actually agreed..... I love Al to, but he has never had a monster post game! Not even at Florida! After proving him inexplicably wrong, I decided to step away for a while. I just stopped posting for a while and let it die out. However I enjoy your post as well and would love for it to pick back up with those that want to discuss the Hawks without getting personal or in their feelings or straight up lying.
Our Braves forum can be click-ish at times, but there are a lot of dedicated fans and good ideas. I refrain from some at times and caption it as I prefer to chat with the adults..... lol... However even those guys are dedicated fans with good insight. I do wish they had a mod that quashed the bs, but that would take all day and who wants to referee a forum? I’d welcome you to it though.
We will land one an ten tonight!
Man, #1 would just change the city of Atlanta. Ticket sales, jersey sales, and everything would just go thru the roof! Oh please let it happen....
I think nothing better can happen than getting Williamson and Reddish (off Dallas pick) and sign Vuveric. After a year or two of seasoning, we would just only become a bigger threat in all of NBA...
I know, I know, would Reddish fall that far in the draft (9th n on...)? Probably not but you just never know...
8 and 10. Wow...
The Lakers in top 4. Oh well...
And Zion actually preferred Atl! That sucks!
Hopefully Cam falls to 8 and I’ve seen one draft predicting that and us drafting him at 8. At 10 I’d really like Doumbouya! He’s raw and will take sometime, Burt comparisons are calling him Greek Freek light and a lire more athletic! I could definitely go for a player who could be 20 and 10 while playing great defense an handle guarding most front court players. So as of today that’s what I wasn’t.
Wouldn’t be surprised to see Atl package the future Cle pick and ten to move up.
Clev's pick is top 10 unprotected so doubt anyone would be interested. Not sure what I would do with our picks. If Culver, Reddish or Hunter falls to 8, would be great but highly doubt they will. Hayes would be a nice add-on and I can see him at 8 or 10. Other than that, don't think be worth the picks. Don't wanna keep front loading our teams with rookies unless those players I listed fall in our lap in the draft. I think we should draft shooters with the 3-2nd rd picks. Trade up our picks? Would it be worth trading our 2 picks for Culver, Reddish or Hunter? If those 3 guys are not there maybe trade our 8th pick and take chances on Hayes falling to 10? This is mind boggling as we do not know til draft night...
To be clear..... no the top ten protected pick and # 10 are not going to get you #1! But possibly #7 Garland and White are gone, or if Chi doesn’t feel that strongly that they will be drafted before 10, if one remains. Atl nor Wash are likely to take a pg! If either are on the board, the Bulls could hedge their bets and pick up a future asset.
I'm not too sure of trading #8 n 10 pick for #3. This is the way I look at it,
Barrett or Culver vs Reddish and Hayes
If course it's if Reddish falls as low as 8 but looks very well possible. Have the best C available in Hayes who shot 72% from field. Barrett, I just not quite sold on him. I'm afraid he's just over hyped. Culver is one player I would be interested in. Proved himself on both sides of the court. Really anyone after Williamson and Morant up to 10th or 11th pick are all close with their potential. Based on team's needs and direction, the 2 players over one seems to be the wise choice here...
Like to hear your thoughts on this SB75...
Reddish has been my guy got the Hawks all year long. I think he and Trae would mesh perfectly together and he has an outside chance at being the best player in this draft. Duke was a bad fit for his skill set.
I don’t think Barrett is over rated! I think he’ll be able to score from day one and be a consistent 20 ppg scorer. I just think he has a lot of Kobe to his game. If he’s the best player in your team, you will be good. If he’s not the best player on your team he will cause issues with his **** selection and ball hogging. I don’t know if Trae and Barrett mesh that well. So while I do think Barrett will be an All-Star level player, I think Reddish is a better fit and could eclipse Barrett as a player if things go right.
Interesting comparison I heard about Reddish he could be an athletic Joe Johnson, with a ceiling of Tracey McGrady. I’d take either! And being that both Johnson and McGrady are former Hawks, we should get both in to work with him if he is the pick!
As far as ten, hearing the Hawks have some concerns about bringing 5 rookies to camp. So I wouldn’t be surprised if Doumbouya is the pick as draft and stash or D league player. The kid has talent, only 18 and raw though.
Gafford who would have been a first rounder last year and had a similar freshman season as Haynes, could be an early 2nd round pick for us.
I'm ok with this year's 17th pick and next year's 1st rd for Prince...
With 3-1st rd picks and 3-2nd rd picks I do believe we will be packing picks together to move up. No way we will have 6 rookies joining our already very young team...
Agreed.
I think we will attempt to trade up to 3,4, or 5. I said on another sight, I believe Reddish had surgery now because he received a promise. I wondered if it was us? Now I believe it was the Bulls and we will leap frog them.
If we can use 10, 17, and one of our 2nd round picks to move up, I will be elated! We would still be in front of Washington to draft the drafts top center. Or Doumbouya!
However I will say I think it’s a slight possibility the Hawks keep all 3 and draft Reddish, Haynes and Doumbouya and stash him overseas or in the D-league. We’ve also been connected to Nasir Little in drafts. These are the 4 of the 5 I’ve seen us connected to the most.
I would be happy with any of these with our top 2 picks:
8- Little/Hunter/Culver/Reddish
10- Hayes or Doumboya
Or:
Trade all of our 6 picks for Williamson, which still may not make it possible :o
Or:
Pack 2 or all 3 2nd rounders to move up for mid-late 1st pick
Or:
Trade Crabbe and Baze to free up space and sign Durant and Thompson (Would have to give up our picks for teams to take up bad contracts)
Durant
Collins
Young
Thompson
Hayes
I know, it's only fun. I put Hayes in there bc I feel he will make immediate impact and will get even better after couple seasons of seasoning. Collins will have a 20/10 season. I think Trae will put up similar numbers but higher assists and more accurate shooting. I would expect Hayes to get near 10 rebounds per game but only 10ppg with limited shots and avg least 60% fg. Thompson 18-20 ppg and we all know what Durant would do. I think we would def contend but need least couple seasons for everyone to play their game but By then, Durant and Thompson will start to decline lol. Just my prediction with some fun. I'm all reality, I feel good about the Hawks moving forward. Gonna be interesting to see what happens to this draft while I think it's best to leave FA alone. While my days of hoping to land Williamson are over, still feel good and looking forward to watch them play together. Now draft just 3 weeks away...
I wouldn’t take Little at 8. I think he has tremendous upside, but 8 would be a reach. If we do lane Reddish ( preferably), Culver, or Hunter at 8, a lesser reach at ten is possible. I’d sub Doumbouya in at eight. Who I believe has more upside than Little and is just as Raw. So to respectfully tune you list to my liking I’d say, I’d be happy with:
Reddish ( preferably), Culver, Hunter, or Doumbouya at 8.
Haynes, Doumbouya, Little, or Bol if the Hawks are truly that interested, at ten.
At 17 Porter, Goga, and Langford make some sense depending on what happens with the other picks.
If I had my preferences as of now I’d love to walk out of this draft with Reddish, Doumbouya, and Porter. With the possibility of landing Gafford or Brown with the #36 pick.
I don’t think we would move picks to get rid of contracts, considering we just took on a contract to get a pick. We technically could make room for anyone easily. But only one max spot.
You think we be able to move up to get either Barret or Hunter trading up our 10th n 17th pick?
Only if NY is truly in love with Culver and take him at 3, Then we move up to 4 to select Barrett. I’ve read the rumors of us and the 4 picks, but in that scenario I think the Pelicans would take Barrett.
Trading up for Hunter would be a mistake in
My opinion. He’s The exact same mold as T. Prince! Hunter is a 3 and D player with limited upside, that is ready to contribute. However we are not ready to contend! We need to select a player with more upside. Just my opinion.
2 questions for you:
1-you think Reddish will improve his shooting accuracy once adjusted to NBA?
2-if the Hawks are high in him, should we take chances he'll fall to 8th pick it should we try to move up knowing we will get him?
The Knicks rejected our 8th n 10th for their 3rd. Makes me think the Hawks are after Barrett. Hunter wouldn't be that high. Have no need for a PG. Now I'm wondering if Pels will trade their 4th for those 2 picks of ours.
Honestly, it's a tough situation to be in. Like I said before, are we seriously gonna have this many guys come on board for us via draft? 6 rookies is a lot to an already super young team (now Carter is gone lol but will be missed). Of course there's high chance they all won't pan out, if half of them do. If we do keep all of our firsts, why not bundle up all 3 2nd picks to move up as high as we can for prob a mid to mid-late 1st pick? Maybe get another Huerter in Cameron Johnson? I think he'll fall below our 17th.
Say that happens, we get 18-20th pick and we keep all other 1st picks. We could end up with this:
Reddish
Hayes
Washington
Cameron
Adds more deep shooters in both Wash and Cam. Reddish replace Prince. Hayes keeps Collins at PF. Just a Zion-type player short to be the next Warriors lol. Wiseman???
