Budenholzer will have to be the new Tom Thibodeau to get Teague and Ellis to play some decent pick and roll defense. Otherwise they will put more pressure on the undersized front line like we saw happen to Josh and Al for years when the perimeter guys couldn't stay in front of anybody. And that's just the defensive side. My main concern is the contract -- you could be right about it but I'll wait until that comes out if this happens at all.Quote:

BTW, if this was last year or any other year, Monta would be a player I would want because he is actually one of my favorite non-Hawks (prob soon to be Hawk). I just want to go with a youth rebuild and develop our young guys while looking for a chance to add a franchise guy in the lottery.

^^^That's your opinion. Ferry eventually traded for..Jamison SMH. Who thought the mavericks would beat the heat, who thought the pistons would beat the lakers, etc;. In the situation that franchise was in, that move should have been made. If he had won a ring, you can't say for certain he was gonna leave. Just post it as opinions and not fact..simple.
Teague for Jennings now heating up. Would rather do this than sign Ellis outright. Seems Ferry wants to go in another direction than Teague (possibly wants Dennis to be the PG sooner than later?) and Teague obviously wouldn't want to come back for a one year contract. This could be a good deal for both sides. Jennings can score (which we need) and hold down the PG position until Dennis develops.

Stein was reporting it but now it's everywhere. Roto, hoopsworld, hype, etc... I actually suggested the Teague Jennings S&T a few days ago so I obviously like it. Between Ellis, Teague, and Jennings my preference would be Jennings. He's not only the most talented of that group he's also the youngest. The kid is only 23 so he has plenty of time to turn that talent into more efficiency under the right coach or system. I think Teague is talented but I think his ceiling is much lower than Jennings.Quote:

Again, you're looking at scoring over the whole picture. Jennings is no where near the defender Jeff is. Is way less efficient. If you saw the hawks last year, the last thing you want when you're behind is a guy jacking up threes the whole time. Teague is just getting into his mold. Under Mike W, he didnt play much, Larry drew was part of Woodsons staff so it wasnt actually a fresh start. With Coach Bud, we have a guy with 4 championships. Hed's learned under Pop for almost 20 years. his defense first mentality could be very beneficial to a guy like Jeff and his defensive ability(top 10 in steals). The tempo, and passing ability of Jeff will be better utilized under a better coach. Larry Drew was ok, but relied too much on Horford and Josh, and never let Teague grow. We will see the difference, and this will be a no brainer if we wisely keep Teague.Quote:

All fair points but I just feel that with Jennings being younger and already being substantially better offensively that he's the better gamble with where the Hawks are in their building process. There is no reason to think Jennings can't improve his defense under the right coach and in a winning environment. Hell Parker doesn't defend at all and that's worked OK for San Antonio. Take the better player and surround him with parts that fit. I'm not against Teague being the guy but I'd prefer Jennings.Quote:

WoW. For the "veteran" posters in this forum, yall know Teague is my guy. I was calling for the Hawks to draft him before most folks even knew who he was. I'm split on this one. If Teague is going to leave I would much rather it be somewhere else, but I do feel there is a lot of untapped potential in "Young Money". I always felt if he gets with the right coach and the right players, he can be scary and very fun to watch. Teague is my guy, but I think "Young Money" could transform into the type of transcending star the Hawks need. If he figures it out, Phillip Arena could be a homecourt advantage for all 41 home games. Teague & Horford or Jennings & Horford..if I'm a GM I would be happy if I had these pieces to start with..Quote:

Hawks, Bucks Discussing Jennings For Teague Sign-And-Trades

The Atlanta Hawks and Milwaukee Bucks have held discussions in recent days involving sign-and-trades of Brandon Jennings for Jeff Teague.
Larry Drew, formerly head coach of the Hawks and now with the Bucks, would like to acquire Teague.
The Hawks would have to give up their pursuit of Monta Ellis knowing that the backcourt pairing has already failed to yield positive results.
