We have to nail our draft picks regardless of what happens with Dwight or wherever we pick next draft. The newest CBA restricts the way teams can be built, especially for 'middle-class' teams, which is what I would consider Atlanta. The idea from some Hawks fans that Atlanta Spirit will go over the tax line and stay there to build a contender is... well... ridiculous. We have one of the least wealthy owners(hip groups) in the league and the already-strict penalties are about to get MUCH tougher for teams that consistently remain over the tax line, the richest NBA owners are selling off good players to avoid the repeater tax. This is why I keep saying the Hawks have to build the way Indiana and Memphis did, and that's regardless of what happens with Dwight.
Bottom line: As long as you have controllable assets (whether you sign them or develop them yourself) at the right price, you will be in position to make franchise-changing moves in the future because there will always be stupid/desperate teams willing to take whatever you offer in a trade.
