Well, he's gone now. Are we better than a 4 seed now? No, we are not. We are probably a 6-8 seed now. So we should have kept Horford and signed somebody else, too. Hawks are just too cheap.

Are you not reading or do you just want to insist it's cheapness? The Hawks offered more money, Al wanted to leave and he did! So it's not about us, it was his choice! Yes Al is more consitant, but Howard has more talent. We could be better, we could be worse. It's a risk, but I'd rather yaks the risk over staying in the 4-5 range.
If we are in the 6 to 8 range at the trade deadline, trade Sap, sit DH12 and tank. If we are in the 4 to 6 range, with a younger team, that is an improvement because of the youth and upside still to come.
Hawks sign J. Jack..... I think everyone saw that coming. The former GT point provides solid leadership and good defense if healthy. And while he's not a great shooter, I've seen him knock down the open look and he understands how to run a team. Solid move, if he's recovered.
I would like to see the Hawks sign Dion Waiters to a "Hawks" type deal. A two-year contract with the second year having a player option. The Hawks need a guy that can create his own shot and create shots for others. If the coaching staff could get Waiters to play like he did in the playoffs, he would be a nice pick-up. I can easily see him winning the 6th Man of the Year award here.
Here is the artical on it

Looking at the trade suggestions for Milsap over on peach tree hoops......
IMHO I think PHX offers the best package of picks and players. If they are turely willing to give up Chris, the pick they're owed from Mia and the right to swap the 2017 pick, I don't see how the Hawks turn that down? Phx is trying to make the playoffs from speculation. And while I don't know if Sap gets them in, he and the continued improvement of Booker, get them closer. Houston and OKC also look to be taking a step back, while Minn looks ready to crash the party.
From A Hawks point of view it gives us an exciting young and extreamly fast combo of DS and MC to build around and the assets for a speedy rebuild if Howard doesn't workout. However the starting PF spot would be weekend significantly.
They're are a few guys that may fit what coach Bud dose on the FA market. And yes you're going to hate this bargain list, but remember its temporary.
Andrea Bargani.... He could shoot it at one point in time.
David Lee.... Nice role player.
Josh Smith... If you get the 15' Houston JS, it's a good gamble. If you get the 16' LA/Hou JS, cut him.
And if you want a young guy who held great promise, but hasn't worked out yet..... Thomas Robinson.
After opting out of his contract with the Nets last month, Thomas Robinson has drawn interest from the Pacers, Suns, and Hawks, league sources tell Amico. Robinson’s player option for 2016/17 was worth the minimum, so if he can land a guaranteed offer, it won’t have been a mistake to turn down that option.
Guess that are interested in him already. It'd be a solid gamble either way.

This seems interesting.
Is Denver stupid enough to give us Faried for 1 year of Millsap? I doubt it.
I actually like how Howard and Milsap fit. Reminds me of how the Magic were built when Howard was there and they were at their best. The key to this team will be Schroder and Bazemore progression. I'll like to see what this team can do before any major chances or made..unless the Hawks get a offer they can't refuse.
Fared is a good player. Hustle, energy and athleticism he has! However he's not a shooter or much of an offensive weapon at all. His offense comes from right place right time. I wouldn't call it luck, but I wouldn't call it a skill either. I don't like him next to DH12 and IMHO it would be a short sited trade. It would keep us where we are without the chance of getting any better.
To reinterate, if there is any truth to the PHX package, that's the one we need to take.
Last if we don't trade Sap before the season ( and I'm on the fence), we need to understand his value declines for a half season rental. It also shrinks the number of teams that will be interested. What none playoff team at the deadline will give up young players for half a season? Where as right now, A couple of non playoff teams are at least delusional.
So if the Hawks have decided not to resign him, they need to trade him before the season! Letting it play out, will result in decreasing returns.
Morning News USA reported that the Celtics might trade their No. 3 NBA draft pick Jaylen Brown along with Kelly Olynyk to Atlanta Hawks in exchange for Millsap. Reports claimed that the Boston Celtics is eyeing Millsap and recently acquired Al Horford partnership in order to form a defensive gameplay in the frontcourt. It is also stated that the Horford and Millsap partnership will place the Boston Celtics at the No. 2 position in the East NBA league.
IDK about this one after drafting Prince and resigning Baze. I also would want the 2018 or 17 BK pick. If that pick is in play, I'd do it! However I'm not sure about the authenticity of it with the draft and signing noted above.
I'm possibly the biggest DS fan on our blog, however 62-70 mil over 4 years for a guy who hasn't been the starter is risky. I guess it shows the faith coach Bud has in him. Congrats DS!
