Me too. Sometimes I get caught up in the Howard stuff due to all of us wanting a star. But I am more excited to see Ferry and Bud turn this entire Franchise around through the draft.

I agree that putting role players around Al is not the way I want to go. I have said many times I don't believe you can be a contender with Al as your best player. But you also have to understand that the man is heading into his prime, and may not want to be part of a rebuilding process. If he truly is a smart guy he understands some teams have been rebuilding for a decade and it doesn't always work out the way the GM has planned. He'd be risking the prime of his career. I'm for tanking if we can't get Howard, but I'm for completely tanking and trading Al to.
I don't want it to get to the point where he comes out and publicly ask for A trade. IDK if he will or won't just looking at this thing from all sides. If we do tank, let's truly TANK so we are guaranteed one of the top 3 picks. We could get some nice young pieces and unprotected picks for Al from teams that are tired of trying to re-build through the draft. Char comes to mind.
I really don't know why one would have to explain why Ferry would rebuild on a forum these past couple pages instead of signing the Ellis types of FAs. It's simple, Ferry wouldn't trade Joe Johnson away just to sign Monta Ellis. He traded Joe away believing Joe isn't worth that much to this team and that we should get a star in here. Is Ellis a star? I fully believe we will tank if we don't get Howard (if Horford is traded, that is Ferry's decision, and I'm cool with it either way), and any more knowledge of this comes from the fact we are letting everyone from Korver and Smith to Zaza and Ivan go seek out other teams. The old Hawks are no more, if we get Howard or not. It's Ferry Time!
Which means any 1 of Wiggins/Parker/Randle/Smart/Young could be ours to take. That is better than any free agent not named Howard out there. Plus if we can get a lottery draft pick for Horford and another in a hopeful sign and trade for Smith, 3 picks next year could quickly set us up nicely.
Kings/Nuggets looking at Iggy. New Orleans offered a contract to Evans. Jefferson talking to Bobcats.
Really the only 3 FAs (besides Dwight) standing in the way of a complete rebuild are Josh Smith, Monta Ellis, and Brandon Jennings. I haven't heard nothing about them. Though when Howard decides, Mavs or Rockets are going to need Josh Smith (or Mavs Jennings/Ellis).
^^^^^
It could have been to talk about a possible pairing with Howard or that they will work with him on a S&T.
Well I don't like quitters so I'm not with it but it looks like we're not trying to win so I guess go tank lol
did you guys know horford is married to this? http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=...ed=0CHUQ_B0wCg
but yea, I could understand wanting to trade Al
Double post.
Cross Iggy off the list, I didn't think he would get that much.Quote:
Kings Offer Iguodala Four-Year, $56MM Deal
July 2 at 10:08pm CST By Zach Links
10:08pm: The Kings offered Iguodala a four-year, $56MM deal, league sources tell Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports (on Twitter). That comes out to an average annual value of $14MM.

Didn't want him anyways. Would rather have Evans or Smith back if we got Howard, but Evans looks like he won't be coming here either.
BTW, Brandon Jennings tweeted "ATL tonight" ............ hopefully just to party or something.
Looks like Dwight, Josh, Jennings, Ellis, and somewhat Jefferson (believe he will end up with Bobcats) are the top guys left for ATL to look at. I hope we pass them by if we don't get Howard.
Not totally up to him. If the Hawks are going into a full re-build, AL is worth 10 to 15 wins a year, which would push us down in the lottery. And contrary to what many have posted on here..... THE SPURS DID TANK TO GET TIM DUCAN! They made trades after Robinson got hurt to accomplish this. So completely tanking and re-building in a Spurs type way is not out of the question.
I want DF to do whatever is best for the Hawks long term. I'd rather trade AL and pick up young players and un-protected picks while his value is sky high and win 15-20 games next year. Than keep him and win 25-30 games next year
All these scenarios are if we don't get Howard.
This would mean one less suitor for Smith.Quote:

I was thinking, if we tank we would still need more salary, so the best bet would be to take on expiring deals while we tank. Doing a deal like a sign and trade Smith for expiring contracts and a draft pick and then Horford for the same would give us the salary and draft picks to tank if we don't get Howard.
These 2 players from Detroit would have been perfect to tank with. :)
Smith will get a look from Dallas and/or Houston, just waiting for Dwight.
A suggestion on tanking and adding salary, if Houston wants Smith (if they get Howard) would anyone do a Smith for Asik, Jones, and a 2014 1st? We take on salary, who is also a starting center, a young prospect in Jones and another pick for next year.
Dennis Schroeder/Lou Williams
John Jenkins/Jared Cunningham
random SF
Al Horford/Terrence Jones
Omer Asik/Mike Muscala
and 2 draft picks
Problem with that is Det's pick won't be a good one for us. They are a play-off team.
If Cle is really still interested in Smith, they would be my pick to deal with. While Smith and Irving would be very exciting and could be the building block for the future, I don't think that team would make the play-off's.
As for horford the teams that come to mind for me are the Bobcats for MKG and their un-protected #1. They are under the cap, so the numbers don't have to add up. And PHX for Dragic, Gortrat, and theie un-protected #1. Again I don't the addition of Horfod alone gets either of these teams in the play-off's. There are others, these two are off the top of my head.
Wow guys I never Hurd fans asking to loose is this what real fans do or is this from years of loosing?
I want to win guys we still have the pick from Boston in are pocket that will definently be a high pick
You literally have no idea what you're talking about so don't accuse us reasonable people of not being real fans because we're not blinded by some idiotic dream of continued mediocrity.
The NBA is a broken league so if you don't want to rebuild, pick another team or another sport. Please.
Well you guys already fill like anyone I name is so sorry that they wouldn't be better than the one yr wonders coming out of college which we know nothing about. I just think we should shoot for the stars and hey we might hit the moon but hey we're still aiming high. I like the Jefferson al mix with Evans or Ellis
Teague
Ellis
Evans
Al
Jefferson not bad right
That would not be a better team than the one we put on the floor last year. While Jefferson has a nice post game, he wouldn't defend a fly in a phone booth. Also playing him with Ellis doesn't make much sense as Ellis likes to push the pace and Jefferson doesn't run. It would still be going home early and capped out once again.
And we would miss out on the chance at the biggest praised draft class since Lebron. You would take that roster and an early elimination over that?
Comparisons don't mean much, especially coming out of High School, but would you want that roster over potentially who the draft prospects are being compared to:
Andrew Wiggins - Scottie Pippen. I would have to take a prime Pippen up against anybody in the league today.
Jabari Parker - Melo. Franchise player.
Julius Randle - Chris Webber. Franchise player.
If we end up with the worst record, we would have at least a choice of one of these (don't you get 3rd at worst?). This is just 3 of the players. Marcus Smart, James Young, Harrison twins are more potential stars. No way all 7 of these guys bust in college (Smart is already in college and looks to be the first Guard taken), so there is a reason to tank for teams.
