I'd take the guy who has been the best and most consistent pitcher the last decade and coming off a healthy season. Verlander is old, coming off a major injury, and hasn't pitched in a long time. Scherzer just has the old part.

we should have saw this last year when the yanks stayed under the luxury tax most of thought it was so the yanks could reset the tax. no one thought it was because hal has become a skinflint.

Cashman is doing an absolutely amazing job.

Between Semien, Ray, and Seager, Cash has saved the Yankees $615MM!!

That is basically the equivalent of winning the ALCS.

If we pass on Correa now and can get that # near $1 Billion, it is basically like we are Champions.

And with Stallings going to the Marlins with Ray, we definitely dodged a bullet there.

This is a 4th place team with an ownership that lacks the courage to declare we are in a tear-down because the "Baby Bombers," failed.

But make no mistake. We are in full tear down mode. We are not augmenting the infield, we are not even in the conversation for Robbie Ray, or Stallings, or Seager, or anyone....

The Yankees are getting Rizzo and Simmons and running it back.

I'd rather avoid that third year and the massive AAV. $50MM to $130MM is a very significant difference. Let's also not forget how dominant Verlander had been prior to the major injury. Dude won the Cy Young his last full season.
