According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, Klay Thompson and the Warriors plan to reach agreement on a five-year, $190M maximum contract, with the Warriors sending a front-office contingent to LA to visit Thompson within the next day.

News broke yesterday that the Warriors were planning to make Thompson a full-max offer. Thus, it seemed to be only a matter of when, not if, they would get Klay signature on the dotted line. It sounds like Sunday will be the day.

Good for him, he deserves it.

Would have loved to see what he could do on his own team, but it was obvious he was resigning. The ACL shouldn't hurt his game too much

No surprise at all

No surprise and good for him. Good for the rest of the league, too, because it’s just less cap to get the role players the Warriors need in case one of their 5 all stars gets hurt.

But this was never not going to happen.

 As they should, they offered him the max. Man deserves it.

Keeps the Splash Brothers united through their entire career (or youth+primes at the very least), which is pretty nice to see. The contract is still pricey, but that's his market and the Warriors were pretty fortunate that he missed out on All NBA for the supermax (saved them 30 million over the 5 years ... which is more like 130 million with tax penalties).

Hopefully he's back late next year and has a month or so to gear up for the playoffs. That will make for a frightening 1st round opponent if the Warriors are a late seed.

the norm these days is NOONE wants to be the man....given everybody is trying to join up in groups of 2 or 3

Is there not going to be anything more official than this, does anyone know?

I would say that maybe they’re trying to get someone now that they’re under a little bit but Klay’s cap hold is $28 million. Add that to the $81ish million and they’re already there and that’s not even including any other cap holds.

Maybe it’s just a done deal and they’re waiting to see what else shakes out in a S&T for Durant or to see what they’ll do with Livingston.

Distinct possibility that Klay Thompson is waiting to see what Kawhi Leonard does. Maybe he ends up on the Lakers if Kawhi signs elsewhere. You never know. But the fact he's unsigned is weird.

Edit: According to Marc Stein, the deal is still done with Golden State. So maybe they are just trying to see if they can add anyone before Klay's deal hits the books. Made all the sense in the world for him to stay.
