Every year members of PSD get together and have a draft of all the players throughout history. They are then ranked and seeded where a "playoff" determines the winner of the game. This is that playoff. Look over the two teams and vote on which team you think would win in a 7 games series.

Miami Floridians (Homecourt advantage)

C: Artis Gilmore / DeMarcus Cousins
PF: Dirk Nowitzki / Charles Oakley
SF: Peja Stojokavic / Bruce Bowen
SG: Kobe Bryant / Raja Bell
PG: Tim Hardaway / Dennis Johnson

vs

Team Dhop

PG: Steph Curry | Alvin Robertson
SG: David Thompson | Byron Scott
SF: Jimmy Butler | Toni Kukoc
PF: Chris Webber | Buck Williams
C: Dwight Howard | Rudy Gobert

Love David Thompson. Either him or butler will have peja. And Tim can't handle curry

Dennis Johnson the 9x All-Def will most likely get more mins than Hardaway to slow down Curry the best I can. Gilmore and Howard whip each other out.

Dirk and Webber matched up a few times in the playoffs.

Dirk 44 FG% 51 3PT% 11REB 25PPG
Webber 50 FG% 9REB 23PPG

Dirk got the better of him but Webber did pretty well, so I'll even give them a push.

Peja always did well vs very good defensive players. So no matchup with Butler to show but he did get the best of good D wings when he played. Hard to stop that shoot.

Then is comes down to Kobe vs David Thompson. Don't think I need to say who wins this matchup.

So who would you rather have Curry vs a 9x ALL-DEF guy in Dennis Johnson, or Kobe vs David Thompson?

This might be the first matchup where the bench actually matters in deciding the outcome of the series.

I would probably put butler on kobe and thompson on peja. sure peja has a huge size advantage, but thompson would have a huge athletic advantage and could keep up with him better around screens. I think you are simultaneously underrating the dwight vs gilmore matchup and the dirk vs webber matchup. I think dwights defense and insane efficiency would be huge this series and think that Dirk would give you a huge advantage on webber. I think one interesting question is if butler or thompson scoring on peja would give me a big enough advantage. I also like my bench vs yours.

First thing I want to point out here is Dwight Howard. From 2008 - 2011 Dwight finished in the top 5 for mvp. 5/4/4/2/7.

That's a half a decade where Dwight Howard was a top 5 player on the planet. When artis won aba mvp he won it over Dan issel and zelmo beauty... That's a pretty week league. Meanwhile the NBA MVPs in 71/72?

Kareem / west / wilt / Hondo where the top 4 finishers. Best you can say is that for one single year Artis roughly matched Dwight's peak.

And despite 6 all star appearances in the NBA he only made 1 2md all NBA defensive team. Losing out to bill Walton, Kareem, Dave cowens, Nate Thurmond, Bob love, and Elvin Hayes. So yeah his defense was elite in the aba, but he isn't Bobby Jones. Who even after coming to the NBA made just as many all NBA defensive teams.

And I know y'all aren't sleeping on the Skywalker. Lol. He'd tear peja apart. And he averaged over a block a game. Verticality is not an issue for him. He guarded taller players just about every night of his career and on offense David averaged more for his entire peak than peja did any one year. Even his one crazy outlier.

Oh and he was just as efficient.

Oh and he was just as efficient.Skywalker was 6'4 but he's going to be fine guarding a 6'9 jump shooter? That length advantage would be huge for Peja on both ends.

Also Peja was more efficient (57TS%) over Thompson (56TS%) over 16 years vs just 9 for Thompson.

I think peja could certainly shoot over thompson, but peja would have no shot at keeping thompson in front of him.

David Thompson was a small forward. Most of his career he guarded 6'5" - 6'8" guys. Peja is only a couple inches taller than an average work day for David Thompson. And again, his name is Skywalker, when he needs to contest a shot he can fly. He also averages more blocks and steals than Peja, who is going to bother who?

Peja cannot guard David Thompson. Peja irl did not guard opposing teams top wings. Not even in his prime. That was Doug Christie. Now he has to guard 25.8 pts .571 ts%? That's one hell of an ask of a 6'9" unathletic jump shooter.

David Thompson did match up on other teams superstars though. Even when he wasn't in his prime. Thompson was the one guarding Dr. J. Peja wasn't guarding Kobe.

That's pretty much all you need to know about what caliber of player they are.

Dhop has a really good team but this one goes to Kobe/Dirk in 7 games

Dhop's worst starter is Jimmy Butler? Definitely seems like whichever team can collect the best three stars usually wins.
