View Full Version : Did Raptors fans just lose their chance of retaining Kawhi?

Rmr this is the same guy who left the Spurs organization because he didnít trust their medical judgment. A guy who is very sensitive and cautious and emotional when it comes to injuries.

KD gets hurt last night and Raptors fans, classlessly, cheer like they just won the NBA Championship.

Does Kawhi want to be part of a nationwide fan base who celebrate and revel in the misery of another player ?

1. Kawhi ďIím not doing this for the fansĒ
2. It was the Spurs miss handling of his situation/injury not the spurs fans that kawhi and his camp had an issue with.

Youíre reaching. And reaching hard. I really love how much itís bothering fans all over the U.S to see a Canadian team on this stage. Itís really getting to some of you and itís hilarious.

Your overreacting to what really happened. NBA fans cheer or boo to every play. Deep down they all know GS wins it all if KD is healthy. Ca'mon we all know it. Raptors have outplayed the Warriors without KD. Those cheers were not about the injury, but more about their title odds jumping up.

You can try to elaborately rationalize the behavior all you want to, in the end they cheered the injury because of the teams' odds of winning. Doesn't make it any less garbage. Thankfully, those losers don't represent the fanbase as a whole.

By the way, on topic....no this doesn't change anything regarding Kawhi imo. His best options are either staying in TOR, or if he really wants LA, going to the Clippers.

Under lined word in that sentence was ďsomeĒ ... Thereís literally a few posters that have a hard on for any negative narrative regarding the raptors.

I go back and fourth from Houston to Toronto. A lot of people in Houston donít even know where Toronto is accept for NBA and MLB fans. So I agree with you a lot of people donít care.

But some seem to have their panties in a bunch and thatís pretty funny. Especially in the NBA forum.

Ca'mon SteBo. Cheering with joy for someone to be harmed is messed up. Cheering because it makes a huge difference on their odds of winning is waaaaaay different. I don't believe the fanbase had time to think things through. This situation is simply misunderstood.

These Toronto fans have been so passionate. They are desperate for a championship. Have you ever been to a game with that much riding on the results? I'd bet not based on your reaction. You're not sitting courtside thinking about KD's feelings, rather you go all in for your team. All in! Every call against you is booed. Every small victory is cheered. That is what you do in that setting. It's not nearly as personal as your trying to make it. You react for your team in a irrational nonsensical manner because your a fan.

I find it hilariously hypocritical of Draymond and Boogie to say that fans are classless and trashy. The chump brothers of the NBA. Cousins is shoving players on one end and then flopping on the other. He tries to cheat the game to make up for his laziness on the court. His embarrassing attitude problem has kept his teams from winning for years and have kept him on the bench for most of the critical moments of this series. Green plays with heart, but when his emotion comes out he shows anything but class.

Wouldn't this event reinforce for Kawhi a reason to stay in Toronto? In spite of public pressure, the medical staff in Toronto continued to work a "load management" routine with him and put his health first.

What resonated more with him, inebriated fans cheering an injury for a moment before stopping and chanting "KD" when he left the floor, or an seeing an organization rush a star player for a better chance to win and the player going down with a brutal injury?

Kawhi left the Spurs because he didn't agree with their medical staff. He has had a positive experience with the Raps staff. If anything, this event reinforces the importance of his trust in Toronto's medical team.

No offense but next time, read the entirety of my post before responding. I made the point you just posted on the front end, so you aren't countering anything.

@Wes Mantooth. You aren't wrong, but nothing you said refutes my point that its ***** behavior. As a Heat fan, yeah I've been to games with that much riding on the result. So what? You aren't gonna hear me cheering an injury, because 1) I'd rather beat the team with no room for opposition excuses, and more importantly 2) it's pathetic. Clearly Kyle Lowry, Danny Green, and Serge Ibaka agree with me. The Raptor fanbase is indeed a passionate one and doesn't deserve to be pigeonholed because a small % went too far in the moment. Those folk got called out for it and rightfully so. I heard a lot of fans chanting KDs name afterwards so in the end, no harm no foul as a collective fanbase.

Yeah I'd refer to Steph Curry as the right messenger on that. Draymond and Boogie aren't really the types to contextualize. Not to say they're dumb or anything of the sort, but those two are ruled by emotion.

You donít listen to Draymonds interviews. Heís an incredible basketball mind and will be offered NBA head coaching jobs upon retirement. Not sure if you actually watch the NBA based on this post :)

What does his basketball mind have to do with his temperament? Comprehension is a thing.
