The NBA is expected to move up the start of its annual moratorium from midnight on July 1 to 6pm on June 30, sources told ESPN. The move will shift the league away from an antiquated system by allowing teams to start talking to players at a reasonable hour.

great move. also allows ESPN (or NBA TV or any other sports channel) to do a "free agency" special live kind of like they do for the trade deadline

Yeah. Right.

I was gonna say the same thing. It's cute how the nba pretends that this actually changes things.

The reality is that the majority of what the NBA says is just for show but doesn't make any real difference in what happens.

NBA is such a slow moving FA that it doesn’t really matter for TV reasons.

More for journalists/agents/execs getting their sleep than anything else.

right, and we can now see all those deals that shockingly get done within 3 minutes of the start being done before bedtime...
