Saw a Farewell Wade thread, so thought there should be one for Dirk too

Probably the best or 2nd best big man to ever play the game...as far as the 4 position goes

Get this dude a statue ASAP. Brought a ring, an MVP season, and relevancy to Dallas basketball for 20 years. Never left, or even thought about leaving. Took down prime Lebron, Wade, and Bosh on the biggest stage.

Dirk is a rare breed of athlete (I see a lot of his qualities in Steph), and Dallas was extremely fortunate to have him, and to their credit, they did some amazing maneuvering in that 98 draft.

I repect the more low key and low profile approach aka Tim Duncan to retirement. Their sacrifices later in their career and unassuming personalities are much appreciated by me. Pretty much the opposite of the attention whore Banana boat dudes and Kobe with big ego, money grubbing, and grandiosity.

Lmao you sound like a hater. Dudes like Kobe, Jordan, Wade, and Dirk earned every cent they got and earned all the praises they received in their farewell tours.

Meh. It is what it is. Pretty sure there's more inner peace and contentment for the way Duncan and Dirk approach life.

I guess I am being a dick. Different strokes for different folks. We just need more role models that show humility, simplicity and another vantage point of how to live life. Need to balance the me first (and my brand), social media, consumer society.

His entire 2011 post season was one of the best runs I've seen by any player in my lifetime.

Dirk and Duncan were my 2 favorite players growing up. The league isn't the same to me without them. I don't know if I could ever feel the same way about a player again. I hope I can... :(
