76ers in 5 with embiid... in 5 or 6 without him... no more excuses from our fanbase... we have 3 or 4 of the best players in this series even without embiid.

Key to this series

we are ****ed if TJ gets more than 10 minutes a game.

Getting Allen in foul trouble is our key, because if he has to miss stretches that means the Nets have to go small, and we can defend small without having to go small.

Wow...Ok, so how is it Bretts fault that we can't defend our man? Is Brett telling Redick to miss every three he takes? Let me guess, Brett told Embiid to start jacking up threes. Told Ben to start throwing the ball away.

Learn to watch the game. Players are sucking. Not much Brett can do when you are 2-14 from 3. If we managed to shoot our season average from three its a 2 point game.

But no that's Bretts fault that guys are sucking. JC

I actually want answers to this stuff:
How is it Bretts fault players are flat footed?
How is it Bretts fault that Embiid stopped even trying to go into the paint?
How it it Bretts fault that Simmons, Embiid, Harris and Redick are a combined 3-22?
How is it Bretts fault that Embiid tells them he's good then moves like he's Greg Oden?

I'm willing to blame Brett when it's time to blame Brett, but this ain't it. Everything can't be the coaches fault.

Like I said, is it Bretts fault that Simmons, Embiid, Harris, and Redick are a combined 3-22 from the floor? No. That's only on them.

Help defense....Brett can yell about it until he goes horse, but he can't make guys move their feet (and they aren't).

I'm willing to blame Brett for the things he should be blamed for. Like leaving Boban in as long as he did against that small lineup. Not playing more clearcuts with Butler in the 1st quarter when the game was getting out there.

But the stuff you two never comment on but yell "fire Brett" for is amazing.

Doris Burke said it clear as day: They stopped calling fouls, and Embiid took himself out of the post. And that's when the offense started to struggle.

I'll take her word for it over yours because she's forgotten more about basketball than we've learned.

WaDe03
04-13-2019, 04:12 PM
One thing we canít forget is that Jimmy is on pace for 24 free throws because absolutely no one on the Nets can guard him or even stay in front of him so this series is rigged like the 06 finals and we canít give the Sixers or any of their players any credit for winning.

1 - I'm not seeing that as trolling.
2 - Who do you mean when you say "real PG" and what's a "decent pick"?

Like I made the comment that if we could find a way for a AD/Jrue combo using Simmons as the key part....I would love it. Now if they want a rebuild and want to add to Jrue for Simmons, I might still be into it. But to me the big issue of taking on salary in a deal like that is if Butler walks we're in trouble getting a SF.

Forgot about Holiday he can shoot and is an elite defender and plays better at SG I believe. Jimmys favorite position is PG, match made in heaven. Donít think yíall can get AD for Simmons

Idk what teams are willing to give up a guy. I think wall would be good but he's hurt so the Washington pick as well. Maybe sign and trade for kemba and swap picks. It's tough because Ben has incredible value but he needs a team of shooters around him and mobile bigs that can shoot. Pretty much needs the bucks situation with giannis

I'm honestly curious on that point. If Simmons needs to play in the post because he doesn't shoot from outside, and Embiid operates best in the post, what type of coaching fixes that? That more an issue of skillset problems than actual coaching no? Because you take Simmons out of the paint, and the Nets don't respect it and double Embiid. But you put Simmons in the paint, having both him and Embiid in there, crowds the lane and there's no where to do if you get a driving lane.

What coach can solve that problem?

Don't let him lead you astray, we said that it wouldn't be a good thing full time but at times it's fine. Which it is. But Jimmy running the point full time wouldn't be a great thing. He doesn't see the court or push the pace like a PG.

Also as for your question... There is 2 better options over forcing embiid out and ben inside... even if those options arent good they are still better. Well that's the issue though. You don't start one of them....who starts for us? I mean, I personally think this is being blown out of proportion. This starting lineup is the 3rd best lineup in the NBA (bind the Warriors and Thad+Indiana Bench) since the trade deadline. Our production drop is significant with a single bench player in.

The amount of crap you guys spread about it being Bretts fault without talking about what's actually going on with the game is amazing.

It's always both. Players taking bad shots can be on the player screwing up the plan or the plan being bad. Players missing shots can be that they missed the shot or that the shot was a low percentage shot for them. Players not helping on D could be the players not helping or it could be the defensive plan called for them to not help.

It's really hard to tell if the plan is bad or just the players.

With that said, as outsiders I don't think we can conclude anything about Brown from this one game.

Agreed. Like I've said, I'm willing to put blame on Brett. But the amount that they take off the players and put on the coach is amazing to me. Like.....there is literally 0 difference right now between wins and losses for us other than shots aren't being made and players aren't moving.

Also agreed 100% on your last statement. Nets are hitting so much and beating two great defenders in Butler and Simmons. They're spreading us out and taking Embiid out of it by running high pick and rolls and shooting in the gap because we like to play over screens to take away the three. It would actually help us a bit if Davis and Allen were shooters because Embiid wouldn't be playing off as much.

Also don't worry, our 14% 3PTFG will go ignored, them having 44 points in the paint, and them shooting 46% from 3 will go ignored.

It's actually insane how much the defense collapses on Embiid when he has Harris, Redick, and (to a lesser extent) Butler surrounding him just because Simmons is also on the court.

Not an ideal pairing of budding stars to say the least.

Part of it is Embiid still struggles some out of the double team when it comes to passing. He tries to dribble out of it like he's a guard or he throws it away some not seeing the whole court. Embiid's passing with his back to the rim is one of those things that really needs to improve.

Simmons is the biggest X factor in the whole east playoffs.

What do you mean? Heís ****ing trash. Philly better hope TJ stops acting as scared of jump shots as Fultz used to be or Joel can get healthy and dominate quick

Love how the Nets gave TJ, Ben, and Joel any shot they wanted outside 16 feet. What a trash team

The truth is a loss like this takes all around issues. Some coaching issues, player attitudes, shooting woes, defensive woes, other team shooting great. Really takes all of that for this bad of a loss.

From the jump the Sixers were sleep walking in this game. Even when the Nets were cold, the Sixers couldn't get any separation. You can put some of that on the coach, but most of it is on the players to actually come out trying in the playoffs.

Just based on my limited viewing of Sixers games, I was under the impression that Embiid is actually pretty good at recognizing and passing out of the double team.

his passing out of double teams was the only reason simmons had any points

That's how you strengthen the bench if you can find someone who thrives in that role. Yes you insert the sub but there's evidence that suggests it's easier for role players if they start games, I know Pop used to do this off and on but yeah, sometimes he needed Manu starting.

The Nets two second best scorers come off the bench. Most intriguing team in the NBA

LMAO BK has white boys doing these fancy reverse lay ups on philly. Fans leaving after that one. Joe Harris lol

Joe Harris is by boy. Dude shoots lights out and believe it or not he is one of the better finishers in the league. My vote for most underrated white boy

Amen on this. These are grown *** men. Then don't need another grown man telling them to be excited and come out with fire. But you would think that getting up for it is the coaches job alone. SMH. I've coached long enough to know that I had little impact on what my players energy level was.

No. He still struggles out of it. Embiid lead the team in turnovers a game. I've said for 2 years now that passing out of the double at a high level is the thing that will make Embiid unstoppable.

Yea but Pops had a guy like Danny Green to turn to. We don't have that. I don't think it's being grasped how much our bench guys struggle.

Im talking about when he had old *** Finley and whoever else before Danny

Part of Embiid's problem out of the post is that he plays with the ball low rather than high. Look at a guy like Jokic, Nurkic, Kanter, Boban.....they pass well out of the post because they play with the ball high. Embiid needs to stop acting like he can play with the ball like a wing and play like a damn center with the ball high. He's 7'2" tall. Barely needs to jump to dunk. He needs to start playing like he's bigger than guys not smaller than guys. When Embiid can play with the ball higher, play with his back to the basket, and make these passes, things will work better.

Good point. He could definitely keep it higher and get as much done with less effort and more options if he kept it high and used his pivot more

Yup. I think it also ends up getting him more fouls. With the ball low he only gets calls on the rip through. If he keeps it high, contact will be more visible and get him calls that he's complaining about not getting.

People still gonna act like Simmons isn't a huge playoff liability?

Even if 76ers win which they should, bk jist gave the whole league a easy blueprint on how to beat 76ers.

Teams don't give you easy lanes in the playoffs, you have to hit shots.

If by that you mean have your team shoot 43% from 3 while we only shoot 12% then good luck maintaining that.

Itís fun rooting for Brooklyn for once instead of against. Theyíve really turned it around. Great win for them today. This will not be an easy series for the 76ers, especially if Embiid continues to shoot that poorly.

I think he means not guard half your players outside the paint, including your 2 primary play makers and your backup PG. those guys have the ball a lot on the outside
