Miami is acquiring Phoenix's Ryan Anderson in the deal for Tyler Johnson, league sources tell ESPN.

Great trade for both teams

The point of the deal was clearing 20M in cap this summer by moving TJ. Suns also get Ellington who theyíll flip for draft picks or pick depending on value. James Jones still doing Miami favors!

Are there any cap experts that can tell me how much cap space Miami will have this summer now?

why would the suns do this?

About 1 million less because Anderson makes 21 mil next year.

Ellington bought out. I was wrong about the picks, thatís surprising. He couldíve at least netted a 2nd I would think.

Maybe if this tidbit from spotrac is true it explains it from Miami's perspective:

2019 agreed to reduce guaranteed $21,264,637 to $15,643,750 for trade with PHX to be completed, full guaranteed if not waived on or before 7/10/19

I didn't even know you could do that. Now the trade makes more sense for Miami but why would Anderson agree give up guaranteed money he won't get back? He's probably just going to ride the pine in Miami as well.

Not sure how having 16 mil in dead money helps

just another guy who got nice coin because of the cba and how teams like brooklyn have to spend and try to lure guys in rfa (to meet salary floor), forcing the heat to decide whether to match.

No. He renegotiated his contract to take just over $15M.

Yeah I have no idea why Anderson agreed to this.

Yes the same one who broke the record for 3s off the bench last year for either the Heat or NBA, Iím not sure. Heís gone to the Suns now who will flip him.

Lol. He ain't worth a first that's for sure.

Renegotiations are in the CBA, but it's rarely done. They renegotiated his deal to complete the trade from Houston to Phoenix, because the Suns didn't want to take back more guaranteed money. He did it to get out of Houston and try to revive his career.

Oh he did it on the previous trade. That makes more sense now.

TJ is surely opting in, right? Not sure why he would decline that Player option.

yea but besides the rockets we can actually offer him legit play time and that seemed to be his issue with the heat.

He's one of several wing targets possible on the buyout market. If he gets bought out first he'll have his choice of where to go potentially.

Miamiís dumb for that too. Philly is home so you have that advantage.

He was a huge piece last year and by far our best shooter. I really have no clue why.
