View Full Version : Is Devin Booker more comparable to James Harden or Monta Ellis?

There seems to be extremely high variance in regards to the thoughts on Devon Booker. MTM recently said the Suns could get a haul for him- but factoring in his contract, I'm not sure any team would trade a "haul" for him. "Haul" is a term I associate with a top 10 player that has proen he is a star. Booker to me, has not.

Personally, young players that are "stars" are able to increase the teams wins after the first year or two. Booker, has not. Simply put, in 5 years will Booker be more comparable to Monta Ellis or James Harden? No middle ground for the sake of discussion

He is trash... I am just going by the stupid logic from stupid owners/Gms.... There is one ******** owner out there that sees a super scorer who put up 70 points that would give up the house for him

Define "house" because I associate that with the value of a top 10 player; high premium. Given his $158 m contract and his play, I don't see it.

that contract is disgusting but GMs will look at it another way esp those not in big markets... basically they would look at it as having him locked down which is a huge asset to a team where players dont normally go. So yea the contract is brutal but with how Gms/players overrate this dude a team that isnt very good in a bad city would jump at the chance to have a star player who is locked down long term even if he isnt actually a star player.

I love him. Show me a star dealt such a raw deal this long into the league. He's already trying to improve his floor game beyond some stars of yesteryear. His most valuable skill hasn't been optimized. I mean have you seen this team play? It's similar to what I saw in Lavine in Minnesota when rubio was around vs when he had to do Rubio's job. The suns need a PG bad. Id even think about Wall if Washington gave up some picks

To the OP title question: Neither.

He's a no defense scorer who can shoot, but he's got to develop more of a complete game to be a true star.

But what you described sounds exactly like harden

Harden is better at setting up his mates/passing with his scoring.

In today's league you are elite if your either scorer/play-maker combo, or a two way stud. Booker can score but he's not good enough in one of the other two areas.

Right. Monta Ellis was the same way.

Monta Ellis

He can score. Canít create for others. Doesnít know what defense is.

He strikes me as a borderline third banana type of a championship roster.

Right. Monta Ellis was the same way.

Booker is a better shooter than Ellis was. Ellis actually tried on D before the injury.

Monta Ellis was one of my favorite players to watch back in his prime

He is nothing like either. And Booker is not as good as Ellis.

My bad. I was trying to give him the benefit of the doubt and as a bucks fan, he drove me up a wall. Musta been better with the warriors.

I can't help you man. He was a 1st round instant exit guy like Giannis.

Ahh. That left coast San Francisco fake news media is getting to ya. Giannis is already better than any player the warriors have. Past or present. Curry is a product of the players around him. Durant is a product of the spacing that curry is able to get him. Sorry darling. I understand you're jealous of Giannis.

Yawn. But seriously I do hope we see Giannis in the 2nd round at some point in his career. He's right there.

Suns were banking on him becoming a triple threat superstar. They fired that GM. Booker is a shooter, so he scores a lot by shooting. But he's not a scorer like James Harden, who can drive, dish the ball, dunk, drive into traffic and make it, hit free throws, get a tough bucket, has a plethora of go-to moves.

Booker's hit some big shots, sure, but again, those are shots and nothing more. He's still just a specialist, and Suns are going to eat that contract if he doesn't develop a full repertoire soon because his defense is another problem. Hopefully they get a point guard soon and plan to keep said point guard for the long haul but Booker needs to improve.

He's closer to Ellis by far at this stage...

He can improve, hence the contract and not wanting to let him go before he explodes, but tick tock.

Makes me laugh with anyone saying he was underrated. The dude is a solid scorer with no defense, all about mentality, and he is more concerned about talking **** all game then being a leader.
