I agree with the article:

"Giannis can become Davis, but Davis can't become Giannis"

Bleacher report literally has the worst ranking for anything basketball related you can think of.

Easily AD but Giannis has a chance still, long way away.

Itís a wash IMO. They are both so different, but equally dominant.

Bleacher Report is crap.

It's a huge mixed bag. Some are fantastic from what I've seen. This article is indeed crap.

Concerning the question, at 1.5 years apart the answer is clearly still AD, with the only pause still stemming from injury concerns. He's been much better on that front lately though.

AD is on a whole tier ahead.

I like what Giannis brings to the game but he led his team to the 8th seed in a currently really weak conference. I recall Miami sweeping the Bucks season series. He has some holes in his game, but has time.

AD has no holes in his game. He's the current standard to live up to as it comes to PFs at the college and H.S. level. Only thing that could make him an "NBA 2K skill modified cheat" player is if he were hitting 3s at a higher percentage and volume and averaged a couple more assists.

I didn't realize how young those two cats are. Either Davis(25) or Giannis(23) would be a nice piece to build around. AD has a more polished game while Giannis is a better ballhandler.

Anyone who would pick one isn't exactly screwing over who's ever left with the other. Put the right players around either one and you still have a potentially very dangerous squad.

I'll take AD because of his defense and he doesn't need the ball as often so it's easier to build around but this all changes if Giannis can develop a jumper.

Anytime you have a ball dominate perimeter players that canít shoot he will limit you teams half court efficiency at times. AD game limits no one. Freak does bring some things defensively that make for up it somewhat but AD is the better option. Since the Pels made the obvious move and made him a center he has been dominant and will continue to be so

Why do you think AD has a better impact defensively?

Sent from my iPhone using TapatalkHe does without question. Protects the rim and consistently has a hand in the shooters face. Giannis can get there but overall he's still erratic and to me plays like a lower BBIQ player who can be exploited by simple pump fakes. D metric numbers definitely back up AD's side fwiw.

that is surprising from a far. Freak is just as long, definitely can cover more ground, should be able to give as good or better weak side rim protection bc of his ability to cover ground, and should be better on the smaller players.

I think athletically they are a wash. Different style...they move a bit different but they are physically equals. AD may have a little more in his Vertical.

Instincts aren't there. You can tell he adopted the game late and doesn't have the highest bbiq. Potential is still there though

BBIQ tends to be fairly linear so he'll likely never catch up.

I prefer Giannis, but according to the stats - Davis is better by every parameter, although it's just by a fraction.

this isnt even close.. i was down on AD because defense but he is already a top 3 or 4 player in basketball.. he is def behind KD/Bron... then you can mix and match between Davis/KL/Curry... He doesnt have the holes Giannis does and he still gets his nomatter if the offense runs through him or not... Meaning he gets his and gets others involved and does it on every end.

A player with an elite post game who can defend on switches will, as the players get smaller and smaller, be even more unstoppable.

Iím Just waiting to see it happen, because a player who can dominate the post will ressurect the post game. Like you said, needs to be able to switch, get up and down the court and have a jumper.

Yeah but if you can shoot the ball, most schemes makes sense setting a pick and scoring the ball from the outside. I don't think teams want to pound the ball at the paint the way Barkley did. The only post play I see are from players who have an overwhelming size advantage. I don't think the majority are practicing any post moves just because it's always been an ISO matchup and with all the movement going on the court today, it's impossible not to find an open shooter in a play.

Many confuse and can't tell the difference between their personal preference and "the better frunchise piece", like the article in the O/P (correctly) concludes:

"Giannis can be Davis, but Davis can't be Giannis"...

The thing with Giannis, is that he has some Davis in him, some Lebron in him and some Curry in him, all with potential to develop further... That's what makes Giannis a unique player, difficult to find an alternative for...

Gains has ankle issues? Cause that's only thing that could make him have some Curry in him.

Two years ago, they chose Towns. Towns is nowhere near this list.
The year before, 86% chose AD.

I wouldn't put too much emphasis on these GM's. Many of them are terrible GM's who have destroyed their own team.

One can't do different but agree with you... If in such a simple question, Giannis gets only 30%... it means that 70% out of these guys are nuts!
