Pretty insane that you had to get to the top 16 picks before you had a no question first ballot HOF player selected. This is why Tanking is so prevalent in the NBA.

And even though Stockton is an all time great the drop off after him at this point in the draft is HUGE.

Over 3000 NBA players total in their history. A top 50 player would be the top 1.5%. A top 25 would be less than 1% of all NBA players ever. It's not easy. Sometimes you just get lucky playing the percentages.

Do we even have a top 10 guy before the first 10 picks? Maybe Kobe at 13?

there are at least 8 really really special top players all time taken first overall.

You can't say the same thing about baseball at all.
