DeAndre Jordan has verbally agreed to a one-year deal worth around $24.1 million to join the Dallas Mavericks.
The Mavericks are basically matching the amount of money that DJ opted out of with the Clippers. Jordan will be 30 in July and really relies on his athleticism, so maybe that's why he's not getting a long-term deal here. With no competition to speak of at center, Jordan will once again be a great option for owners punting free throws for his rebounds (15.2), FG% (64.5) and blocks (0.9).

lol

Dallas got their man I guess. Also since there is no state tax in Texas, Dallas could actually go a little lower. That California tax is crazy.

he should definitely back out of the deal just for the fact that he might be the first player ever to blue ball a franchise in back to back contract years in FA

Good news for Houston. That's one more team out of the Capela sweepstakes.

Why wouldnít he sign for more years? This looks like itís basically the Clippers didnít want Wes Matthews, so DJ opted out and just signed what his PO woulda got him plus a little extra for the paper work. Everyone wins, I guess?

Dallas still going to let dirk play all those minutes? He looked like he was going to crumble every time he tried to run last year, it was cringey watching him on a basketball court.

I actually really like this signing for them though, a lot of defensive issues to cover up on that team, he's really one of the few who can do it.

There's rumors that Cuban wanted to do this to push for the playoffs as a 'send off' to Dirk.

What are the odds Dallas flips the script and backs out. Leaving him the odd man out once the market dries up a week from now?

That's the only storyline I'm looking for.

Yeah I am confused why it is 1 year? Wouldn't someone DJ's age seek at least a 3-4 year deal?

For sure, and I can't imagine what off the books promise dirk has got for sticking around in Dallas.

Makes sense. A bit of a gamble but that hasn't stopped Lebron in the past.

Risky move for DJ, what if he gets injured, I'm surprised he didn't do 1 + 1 deal at least

dude has been remarkably healthy his entire career. That's one thing he deserves a boatload of credit for.
