Ray Allen

2X Champion
10X All-Star
All-time leader in 3pter made
Retired as likely the greatest shooter the league has ever seen
2X All-NBA (that seems shockingly low)

Considered by most to be a top-10 SG all time.

So the question is, how is he not a first ballot HOFer?

The question has been answer for us: it's no. He is not a first ballot HOF.

But what is your opinion?

I don't reserve first-ballot status for many guys, but I think Ray Allen is a clear cut case.

Thoughts?

Should have been.

Then again I think the basketball HOF is a joke.

While I don't think it should have effected him I'd wager Curry and Klay killing his 3 PT records didn't help.

Donít you have to be retired 5 years to get in? He last played in 2014.

He should definitely go into the Hall of Fame. As for ballots, I don't really know or care, I just look at who's in it.

To me the whole 1st ballot stuff is a lot of bs. If someone is worthy they should get in the 1st time.

The inductees haven't been announced yet. I've seen articles suggest he could still be added. Like these:

Of course, he is. Basically an evolved version of Reggie Miller.

I also hate the 1st ballot nonsense. Either you're worthy or you aren't. Why are we trying to make people wait?

Did grant ever have a greater playoff series than ray?

There are instances where guys who are eligible in the same years as other HOFers, and because they only let in so many, they might miss out their first time, but then the next time around the might get in as the guys who were eligble that time weren't as good.

But I'm not sure there should be a max or min for this.

Hell... if Kobe, KG, TD, Nash, Kidd, and Hill are all eligble the same year, they should each get a yes or not vote and they'd all get it.

If the next year there's only a couple guys who are deemed as worth, then just let a couple guys in.

That said... I realize the pragmatics of that would make it difficult to make a HOF induction show worth while if only two NBA guys are getting put in.

This.

It's a joke how there's people who 100% believe guys like Griffey Jr, etc deserve to make it but intentionally decide not to vote him in for some dumb reason.

Griffey Jr. really? I don't follow baseball, but this guy was on highlights 24-7 in his seattle days. He should of been a first ballot guy. Rechecking he did get in first ballot. But I know where your getting at with your stance.

i'm sick of these HoF questions.. the criteria is so dumb where it's more rep-based than achievement based. Many guys don't belong in it. I mean, they are talking about Bosh making it if he retires. No way.. Bosh is no HOF player. HoF lists suck and we need to stop talking about it.

HOF is not the Top 50 of all time, it's more like Top 50 of each decade. Bosh will get in.

LOL there are like 60 draft picks so times that by ten = 600 players each deacde, we'll replace the ones that don't make the league with European and international guys. 600/50 = 12 percent of players make the HOF.

I know you not being literal with the top 50 of each decade but I get the gist. Probably top 20-25, maybe 30, lol don't know for sure but could be around 5 percent of players make the hall.
