View Full Version : Battle for the 7/8 seed in the East; 2 spots 3 teams

The Pistons, Philly and MIA are battling for the last two seeds in the east. Also a chance one of the other teams falls off. After DET there is a huge drop-off to the next team, CHA who are 23-31 and NYK 23-33. I am declaring them dead in the water.

So who do you think gets the final two seeds and/or who falls out?

I think it will be Pistons and Philly beating the Heat out for the last two spots. Tho the Pacers could drop off too.

The Heat will get the 4th seed. I also wouldn't say these teams are fighting for the last 2 seeds when literally the 3-9 seeds are pretty close

Valid point; edited accordingly

Curious, why?

Curious, why?
I wouldn't say it's based on anything educated. I've watched 1 maybe 2 of their games. But looking at their roster up and down they just look like a team that's overachieving.

They have a good mix of Vets that are still producing and young players stepping. But I guess at the heart of it I still don't think Oladipo is for real and that's likely the root of why I think they drop off.

That's fair. Dipo's never been this good his entire career, and he's carrying the team.

It's either like when manram felt Paul George was incapable of sustaining his impressive scoring numbers or like when manram didn't think jimmy butler could.

4 games from 3rd to 9th but one user blinded by one team has to shape the debate to not include them. LOL

The fact is that from 3 to 9 is all still up in the air in the East. Just under 30 games to play, 4 games difference is nothing.

That said, the top 2 in each conference are only a game apart too and that's REALLY nothing. 4 top teams and a bunch of teams fighting for the right to dance. All we've got to do is wait until after the all-star break and it's going to be all go go go!

I think the Wizards could fall out.

I say in 7th place it will be Miami finishing out the season exactly where they are which is in the 7th spot which they will have on lock and in 8th it will be Detroit Pistons scratching and clawing to get that final spot.

I think the Wizards could fall out.

I was thinking the same but they've been alright without Wall and have enough proven players that they should be able to hold off till he returns. They may not stay at 5 but I don't see them dropping to 9

Wizards they could fall out of the playoffs and honestly at this point I feel like if they do it wouldn't really surprise me

They definitely have a bit of a cushion. But in their upcoming 21 games through the end of March, they play 15 games against teams that are currently in the playoffs. Non-playoff teams they play in that span are Detroit, Charlotte (twice), Knicks (twice), and Bulls.
