The Timberwolves will try to sign Derrick Rose if he clears waivers after his looming release by Utah, according to league sources

As long as he plays defense heíll be fine gettin 15-20 min a game, but Tyus is the best PG to run squad

If he take Tyus Jones' mins then that's terrible.

Who would have thought Rose would be so bad. Shame that he couldn't learn the game better after he lost the explosion. I'd be curious to see him on a team like the Spurs.

I think after all the injuries and the realization heíll never be the same and never be among the elite, he just lost his love for the game. The injuries and constant rehab took a toll on him, he made a boat load of money, and if heís not going to be one of the best, is the constant rehab and disappointment worth it? Itís understandable but I think thatís more of the problem than him not learning the game.

That makes absolutely no sense for Minny... He's trash, not concerned by the game anymore and has awful work ethics. Plus he does not get along with Butler...

Yea at this point I'd rather a dleague player with potential over Rose. At least that dleague player is hungry and wants it. He's going push himself while rose might flash a game here or there but be useless the rest of the time.

Watching rose and his choices and idiosyncrasies, I believe he has aspergers, but of course I can't diagnose him, and the condition mysteriously doesn't exist anymore. If it did I would hope that he , would investigate it for his own freedom, if he hasn't

Very familiar with it, seversl people I have relationships with present like he does.

If so he will really never be understood by the fan base and he doesn't seem to care anyway.

I can't imagine what it would cost the Knicks to buyout someone who still has 55 million dollars remaining on his current deal. Easily Phil Jackson's worst move as president of the Knicks. I don't know what he was thinking giving Noah that type of money.

Since the season is 60% over it is only $45 million. It really comes down to whether he wants to play again... Guys like him and deng aren't getting any younger and to be bench for up to 3 years I would think is a bigger problem for the player than the team...

If they bought him out after the season when he is owed around $38 million it will probably be around $8-10 million to make sense for both the team and the player.

The league really needs the buyout dam to break on the guys that were overpaid in the summer of 2016 so the market rate can be established and more and more of these guys become willing to get bought out.

The big issue for teams is that you can't use there contracts in trades once they have been bought out... just think of how interesting that would get if it was the case... all these guys would probably be bought out already.

disagree. I couldn't stand it when the league allowed each team to just drop a player years ago, and I don't agree with yet again giving a bandaid to irresponsibility. What motivation does it give teams that weren't stupid? The market will correct itself. Think of the housing market. There have been times when houses were overinflated due to market, and times when undervalued. It all works out. Teams that were stupid get to wait imo.

Please understand this comes from 2 things- my fiscally conservative nature (hate bailouts, you fail, you fail), and the fact that my team doesn't spend ridiculous amounts of money on free agents..

The only thing that intrigues me, is you said "buyout", which means 2 sides need to come together. So maybe I am reading it wrong, and you aren't suggesting the league step in, in which case, yeah, I am cool with it.

no... I am not talking about amnesty... I am talking buyouts .... I really think it is a pride issue for the players in that they don't want to give up any money for a contract they signed... like I said the problem with that for the older guys is the teams will just bench them and forget about them for another 2 years which hurts the player more than the team.

Once the first guy gives in they all will in the name of wanting to get playing time

LMAO you are a complete idiot. I am an early childhood intervention specialist. I literally work with people who diagnose autism as a job. Not a single person would diagnose someone with a social disorder if they have never come in contact with them.

I like Rose but I'm afraid his style of play doesn't work with the new system of basketball. He's a score-first PG who is terrible at making decisions so what you get is a SG who can't shoot and relies solely on athleticism. Just not much value for Rose these days.

Even if he's not you're still definitely smarter than all these NBA owners and GMs.

Lots of people are.... lots of people also know more about basketball than actual basketball players/coaches etc... the notion that a gm and or player is smart because they are in said sport or played said sport is moronic and that goes for every sport... not at all saying i am smarter than a gm but i would bet on certain people that follow the statistics of a sport over guys who just played the sport any day of the week and twice on sunday.... These same morons thought the thunder would be favorites and that melo was still actually great and just needed a change of scenery. Continue with your sarcastic responses because I adore them while you continue to believe that insane logic.

These same guys continue to give the roses of the nba chance after chance because of their name and what they did years ago over just going out and getting a D-League guy that is more hungry/quicker and flat out better at both ends but lack the name sake is all... its a continually stupid stance in sports and the hilarity and stupidity of these moves never stop amazing me... rose will find another job next year as well just wait.

league min isnt the reason why this is a big deal.... they are paying him to make their team worse... that is what the big deal is.

Thibs is turning into a toxic coach. He runs his players down the tubes to the point where Jimmy was probably told or didn't play the ASG to rest. He has a history of doing that... check Rose's first injury. All his players end up with short careers. Again, need more evidence? Look at Noah/Deng. Both still young players who can't even get up to the court looking healthy and ready. Now he tries to do a Chicago Bulls reunion.. I feel bad for KAT. I hope he does not get his career ruined by this.
