Pels shot out of their mind last night and could barely beat the Embiid-less Sixers on a b2b. I don't see any path to victory for that horrid D on a road b2b against the most dominant team in the NBA right now. I think it's an easy 20+ point win for the Rox but GL.

I wonder where I can in-season bet team-wins over/unders. The Heat are very lucky to be nearly .500 and don't think there's any way they maintain this over the course of the season.

Blazers about to drop to .500.

And no Nurkic for the Blazers. I don't think the Warriors have played them with Nurkic yet?

Maybe once but yeah I don't think so. It's unfortunate neither team is ever meeting at full strength, I would really like to see the Blazers play the Warriors with each 100% so I could gauge what exactly the Blazers need to catch up. I imagine it's a lot though lol

Harden might put up 50 on this D. And as long as the Pels keep up their >60% 3pt shooting from last game into this game (so far so good), they'll be right in it.

tredigs
12-11-2017, 09:32 PM
Chronz you might have been on to something. Pels shooting 78% from 3 with 1 turnover through nearly 1 quarter. Has to last, right?

mightybosstone
12-11-2017, 09:32 PM
God, this is the second game in a row an opposing team has shot just completely unconscious in the first quarter against the Rockets. New Orleans has made 15 of its first 20 shots, including 7 of 9 from the 3-point line. And the Rockets' defense hasn't been great tonight, but a lot of these shots are being contested.

Pels shooting 67% from the field and 82% from 3. Down 5.

I think the Rockets might be tough to beat this year.

I threw a few $$ on the Pels too , but figured it was wasted $. Just did it cause the ML was kinda attractive

One of my biggest pet peeves is when a player shoots a 3, maybe a step or so behind the line and the announcer *****es about how deep it was. Ryan Anderson shot a 3 a step behind the line and they're calling it a 40 footer lol.

It is un****ingbelievable how well this Pelicans team is shooting from the 3-point line. These are contested shots, and they're hitting every god damn one. 14 of 18. Unreal.

And again, still losing. That was most likely the best offensive half in Pelicans basketball history. Some of it was **** D from Houston, but mostly they are just on fire (not too unlike last night). Still, not too shabby for a slightly above average 3pt shooting team. Currently on pace to break the NBA record for 3's made in a game.

Houston's defense has been abysmal this game. But the Pelicans are legitimately hitting every single contested perimeter shot right now. They cannot miss. I'm honestly not sure that I've ever seen a team get this hot before. Their 3-pointers might as well be layup drills.

Paul finally showed up to the game, and it couldn't have been at a more important time. They desperately needed that run just to avoid being blown out.

In an unrelated note, I'm a little worried about Harden. He got banged up a couple of nights ago against Portland, and he's looking a step slow tonight. He was probably to play, but I kind of wonder if D'Antoni should have sat him tonight.

For those not watching this is the Pels without AD by the way. Jrue Holiday 35/5/5 on 15-19 + 4 threes. Rondo triple double with 3 threes. E'Twaun Moore 36/3/3 on 15-20 + 6 threes. Rockets up 5.

Anybody who doesn't think Harden is MVP, I dare you to watch the final minutes of the last two Rockets games and say it again with a straight face. These last two nights have really shown what this Harden/Paul duo can be, and I'm liking it. A lot.

Another spirited game by a tough Western Conference opponent, though. Moore is a freaking Rockets killer. I hate facing that guy, and he and Holiday were both unstoppable at times tonight.

Credit to the Pels players (without their best player) for being able to run an 8 man rotation on a road b2b after a super tough game in Philly and just shoot the ****ing lights out until their legs finally gave out. Their defense was among the worst I've seen in an NBA game this season (never seen so many wide open corner threes in my life), but that was a good show.

I agree Harden is the front runner, but LeBron has been the best closer in the league. No one else has a legitimate case right now.

Excuse Harden for not being in many close games in 4th because they're up so much.

And in the only two close games the Rockets have had in the last three weeks (the last two), he was a monster in both 4th quarters. I was looking over ESPN's power rankings this morning, and I saw that the writer who wrote Cleveland's ranking took a shot at Harden by championing Lebron's production in crunch time minutes. But I couldn't help think, "How many real crunch time minutes has Harden played in the last month?"

I seriously think the media will look for any excuse they can not to give it to Harden this year...

It's easy to say that as someone who doesn't eat, breathe and dream Rockets basketball. Trust me on this. I watch national media as much as local media, and the amount of attention I see paid to mediocre teams in major markets and other star players versus the amount of times I regularly see Harden's or the Rockets' name mentioned is astonishing. And that's not even accounting for all the media personalities who only bring up Harden for how much they hate the guy for his perceived lack of defense or how they don't like the way he plays the game.

The fact that he and the Rockets are getting as much attention this season as they are is a testament to how good he and the team have been.

Giannis is a remarkable basketball player who is a ton of fun to watch. He's also a distant third right now in the MVP race, and that's being generous as you could make a strong case for Kyrie over him.

I can't stand Mark Jackson on the national broadcasts. He and JVG both say absurd things and they let each other go with them.

The Rockets locals are better now that they are winning at a higher rate. Charlotte's are pretty good, the Warriors color guy is good but the play by play guy is annoying. Knicks and Lakers play by play guys are generally annoying. Celtics Tommy Heinsohn is funny because he's such a nut.

I don't really disagree with your thoughts on Mark Jackson and JVG, but overall I think basketball has the best national commentators. I find more to complain about with bad NFL and MLB commentators.

I'll agree to disagree on JVG and Jackson. Maybe it's my love for JVG as a Houston guy, but I've always liked his skills as a broadcaster. He's so much better and providing quality feedback at what's going on in the game than 99 percent of other NBA guys. Every time I turn on a TNT game to get reminded that Reggie Miller's calling it, I think very seriously about muting it. Miller has nothing of value to say in-game. He's awful. Then again, the entire TNT crew (especially the studio show with Chuck, Kenny and Shaq) is pretty much trash to me.

I'd much, much rather watch an NBA basketball game on ABC than on TNT.

My issue with JVG is that he never thinks a coach should be fired and he always seems to hold back like he's always staying safe just in case he gets a chance to coach again. I do like him in other context though.
