Which would you prefer? Let's say the Defending Champions don't have the best player in the league but is on a good team.

With that in mind, would you prefer to beat the Best Player in the league or Defending Champions in a series?

Example 1972 Bucks lose to the Lakers while the Bucks were the champions and Kareem best player is not an option

Defending champs, usually the best or top 2-3 player is usually on the defending champs team so I guess I get to have my cake and ice cream with a gift card

That just means you needed someone's help to beat the best player.

Prefer to beat LeBron or the Warriors? I'd go with the Warriors.

It honestly depends. Some years, the defending champs just suck. I mean, Mavs 2012 was in no way a team I think anyone really cared about. I would have much preferred to beat LeBron in that season. But if we're talking about the Warriors last season? Gotta be that.

Beating the defending champs would theoretically be a bigger accomplishment, especially if you're in the playoffs. Can you provide more context? This thread is pretty vague.
