Members of the PSD Community came together and participated in an All-Time NBA Redraft. They drafted, traded and signed all time players to create the best team possible. This is the 1st Round of the playoffs.

Special stipulations for this game included: No NBA or ABA MVP winners eligible. Each team had to start (and play 24 minutes) 2 players who did not play a single game after 1990. Additionally, each player is judged on the a single season/the best season of their career, as selected by the GM.

Please look at the teams and vote for which team you think would win in a 7 game series.

Seaside Seagulls has home court advantage for the series:

I guess I'll start this thing off. Congratulations G1!

This is an interesting matchup because many of the players actually played against each other, here are the head to heads of each matchup:

Gary Payton vs Jason Kidd

Regular Season:
Gary: 17.6 PPG, 6.2 APG, 4.7 RPG, 45.2 FG%, 32.2 3PT%
Kidd:14.3 PPG, 10.1 APG, 6.8 RPG, 39.8 FG%, 39.9 3PT%

Playoffs:
Gary: 17.1 PPG, 6.3 APG, 3.1 RPG, 42.6 FG%, 32.0 3PT%
Kidd: 16.1 PPG, 9.3 APG, 6.9 RPG, 43.9 FG%, 36.6 3PT%

Clyde Drexler vs Sidney Moncrief
Squid: 16.8 PPG, 3.8 APG, 4.0 RPG, 47.4 FG%, 41.7 3PT%
Clyde: 18.4 PPG, 6.3 APG, 4.3 RPG, 44.1 FG%, 30.8 3PT%

Jerry Lucas vs Paul Silas
Lucas: 18.5 PPG, (of the 41 games that had rebounding numbers: 15.9 RPG)
Silas: 9.6 PPG

Dave DeBusschere vs Paul Silas
Dave: 16.6 PPG (13.3 PPG playoffs)
Silas: 9.0 PPG (8.8 PPG playoffs)

There seems to be 2 main areas where I have a decided advantage.

First, scoring. As great as G1's team is (and he built a really good team), it lacks scoring power, especially if Clyde is getting less than 20 PPG against Moncrief.

Kidd scores between 14-16 vs GP and he has 1 season above 17 PPG in his career
Clyde was held to 18 PPG by Moncrief
Paul Silas's career PPG is 9.4 and he has 1 season above 14 PPG (17.5 in 1972)
Shawn Kemp has 1 season where he averaged over 20 PPG (20.5 in 1999)

Bibby has 1 season where he averaged over 20 PPG (21.1 in 2006)
Terry never averaged 20 PPG in a season (3 years at 19 PPG however)
Bowen's career high PPG is 8.2
Horry's career high PPG is 12.0 PPG

Only half his team has ever averaged 20 PPG for a season and 1 of those players will be guarded by 2 time DPOY Sidney Moncrief, who held him to 18 PPG. So with Clyde not being able to carry the load offensively he has to rely on Kemp, Wilkes, DeMarcus Cousins and Mike Bibby.

That is not good and actually brings me to my next point:

while our starting lineups are built fairly similarly around 2 dominant guards, my bench is far superior to his.

My bench has Penny Hardaway, who was 3rd in MVP voting in 1996 (over Shaq) and Elton Brand, who each posted over 6 BPM and VORP their best season. I also have Larry Johnson and Andrew Bynum, who were both All-NBA players in their peak season.

To summarize:

Every single player on my team has averaged over 18 PPG at some point in their careers and can score.
3/5 starters have won DPOY and 4 have made an All-Defensive team.

With The Glove and Squid hounding Kidd and Drexler all game, his team simply doesn't have enough offense to overcome my defense.

I love Greatness' team, love them. But a team that reliant on the backcourt pushing the pace vs. Glove & Squid... I gotta go Valade here.

seaside for me. I think the backcourts are pretty close, but I don't like Kemp at center and I don't think silas should be starting.
