The Ringer had a piece on guys up for extensions on their rookie deals (https://www.theringer.com/nba/2017/9/12/16290580/rookie-scale-extension-candidates). The list includes some no-brainers, players with obvious talent as well as injury concerns and others who still have potential but have yet to develop. Here are some of the more interesting candidates:
Rodney Hood, Jazz
Elfrid Payton, Magic
Zach LaVine, Bulls
Julius Randle, Lakers
Clint Capela, Rockets
Marcus Smart, Celtics
Joel Embiid, Sixers
Dante Exum, Jazz
Aaron Gordon, Magic
Jusuf Nurkic, Blazers
T.J. Warren, Suns
Gary Harris, Nuggets
Jabari Parker, Bucks
Andrew Wiggins, Timberwolves

Who would you try to lock up as soon as possible? Who would would you let become restricted free agents? What happens to these guys?

Hoping Parker signs a discount rate. Bucks have expiring Moose contract. So either way we got Parker unless he gets ticked off and take QO. Yeah he's 22 and 2 ACL injuries. Bucks hoping for a discount like the old example of Curry doing same early in his career when he had ankle problems.

Still scary if Parker goes only for the max of 5/$150M. Then if he's injured again then were held hostage like Redd did to our franchise for like 2 or 3 years in a row on super max deal. Yeah insurance was paying 80% of Redd's money. But still killed our cap 3 years. Also Bogut missed tons of games as well.

Parker wants the max, Bucks would be dumb to do it. Let him go into RFA and match his offer sheet. Chances are he won't get a huge deal.

parker isn't gonna get anything close to the max...

that kind of thought process is by definition what is wrong with the NBA salary system...

these young guys who haven't done anything in league are living off the backs of the superstars...
