Back in 2008, when I figured Jason Kidd/Steve Nash wouldn't be around for too much longer, I decided to spend time uploading their playoff highlights to youtube, due to there not being many avaible at the time. I succeeded in adding 7 each of their greatest playoff games and put them on youtube. Wanted people to be able to appreciate the two best point guards I saw as I was grew up.

So now that's it been a couple years, I decided to repost them, so people who might not have had a chance to witness them, get to some of their signature playoff performances.

Hope you guys enjoy, this project took me months back in the day.

think I made this project really hard on myself back in the day, because every game had to fulfill three requirements.

A) Had to be a great performance

B) Had to be in the playoffs

C) Had to be a win

Definitly left out some great performances in losing efforts. But I'm definitely happy with how it turned out.

You should do one on young Kidd when he was with the Mavs the 1st time.

I couldn't find a lot of great playoff performances from Kidd during that time, back when I started this project.

Oh they didn't even come close to sniffing the playoffs back then. He had some pretty exciting plays though. He had several triple/doubles before dumbass Ross Perot Jr traded him to the Suns.

I find it insane that the Mavs had both Kidd and Nash early in their career.. both who at their peaks would have made Dirk's life significantly easier.. yet somehow it ended up that neither Peak Kidd or Peak Nash played with Prime Dirk. It's amazing to thonk about

The craziest thing to me, is that despite the fact that Kidd's box score numbers never jumped off the page, he still finished 2nd to Tim Duncan in mvp voting 2002. That's insane when you think about it.

Also Kidd in 2002 was amazing.15/10/6/2 at first glance probably wouldnt get mvp consideration most years. Yet in 2002 he was 2nd in votes to only Tim Duncan. It demonstrates just how value voters believed his game control and intangibles were at the time, as well as his defense

If Ross Perot Jr had hired Don Nelson just a few months earlier Kidd would have never been traded. Nellie mentioned when he got here that Kidd would have been perfect to run his system. Keeping Kidd though would mean that they wouldn't have had a need to get Nash and they likely would have been too good to get in position to draft Dirk.

Nash was traded because Cuban wanted a more traditional team. Also Nash's back was getting bad and Cuban didn't think his career would last much longer. Clearly he was WAY off. Also Avery Johnson didn't think the team would be able to go far in the playoffs when your two best players are your two worst defenders.

Leave some comments on the videos if you enjoyed any. Just realized all the comments on them are like 4/5 years old lol.

Its just funny how things worked out with pgs for the mavs.

They drafted J-Kidd but he gets sent to the suns before he starts his prime. Then they get him back after his prime ended.

They get Nash, he's a really good point guard, but Cuban doesn't want to invest in him long-term. Next thing you know Nash has mvp seasons.

Then they wanted Prime D-will, they couldn't get him... and then they signed him when hes not a star anymore
