LeBron and his agent Rich Paul with an assist to Magic?

At least they finally learned and it's a 1 year deal. If this was last years management dude would gotten a 4 year deal

Good for both sides. KCP gets a major pay day while still being able to cash out next year if he plays well, and the Lakers get a young, good defensive player/cap filler for a year until next year when they hope to spend big.

Great pick up especially on a 1 year deal that keeps them flexible for next year's big FA class

Good fit with Ball since KCP can guard PGs.

Wow!!! That is the dude I was hoping would land in their laps. This is better than George Hill or Dion Waiters. Nice get from Magic's first year on the job. I am liking what I am seeing so far.

Now Curry, Westbrook, CP3, Dame get that beating many more games this year. Good signing, good contract.

It's strange from KCP's side that he couldn't do better than a 1 year deal.

overplayed his hand based on what guys got last year...

probably was getting only around 4/60 on the open market AT THIS POINT...

Lakers did rich paul a favor ... the tea leaves are unfire

Pistons offered him with 5/80 or 4/80 can't remember which, but I'm guessing he's hoping to blow up this year and get a huge offer next year.

5/80 and he said no. He wanted the max im sure.
Good pick up by lakers. Biggest free agent signing in a loooong time. Dude can play some defense and is young and can run n gun w zo n ingram. I like it

Although it's largely attributed to fortuitous circumstances developing at the tail end of free agency, this is the best signing to come out of the Lakers FO in a decade plus.

With Deng as the only remaining landmine, Pelinka and Smiley McGee have had themselves a nice little summer undoing the last regime's absurdities.

yeah... I know what Detroit was offering ... I was talking open market after they renounced him. There is a real chance he won't make $80 million the rest of his career if he doesn't play well this year... kinda scary

the summer of 2016 will define so many crappy players lives. Sad

LA isn't going to win many games any time soon, but this was a solid signing, and they should be pretty damn fun to watch next year. I still think Ball is being insanely overrated. But even if he's 70-80 percent as good as some analysts and fans suggest and Ingram comes close to sniffing his potential, they're building a solid core there.

I like it. Improves the D, Lonzo can hit him in transition. Better 3 shot than what we had and if we can't land any big name(s) next offseason and he balls out we can resign him.

money dried up, he probably would've got a bigger deal if he wasnt a restricted free agent on july 1st

Anybody know what kind of player he is? I watched a highlight reel but he was mostly just catch and shooting 3PTers. Can he create his own shot? Does he drive? Is he a cutter? I heard about his defense, which is good. Just curious is all. I know his name; don't remember much from Pistons highlights.

Very good defender, I keep pointing out that he's arguably the best point guard defender out there, he's the reason the pistons have played the warriors so well the last 2 years. He does amazing on curry.

Offensively though he hasn't shown what I'd hope. But he's an amazing athlete and can get up, along with great lengthyness.

He can't particularly create his own shot yet though.

I think Lonzo will help him get easy shots then and give him ease to work on that shot creation. Lakers need athletes, so I'm pleased to hear that and the sound of Curry being defended well by KCP is music to my ears. If the Lakers ever rise again, they're gonna have to go through Curry's crew.

KCP is maybe the best player on the Lakers right now ... and the thread has people talking about how he'll be helped by a rookie.

Ball's got a LOT of pressure on him to save a franchise, according to Magic, get his number retired in the end. But no pressure young fella.

Yep...

The lack of cap smoothing just goes to show how stupid the NBAPA was at managing their business...

A small few benefitted just because of the timing of their deals... truly sad
